Calipari is all for the age restriction, so if that's the case he should honor every scholarship he gives....as should all coaches unless criminal activity has taken place

If he is done playing, though, would they give him a scholarship to get his degree? I know in undergrad, my scholarship was based completely on merit and had to be renewed every year depending on my GPA, etc. Wonder what an athletic scholarship looks like.

No idea, but I know I have seen in the past that teams have honored scholarships for injured players.

Most athletic scholarships I've seen are to be renewed each year, and it's up to the coach whether to honor one that can't be lived up to. As a somewhat related result, partial scholarships tend to increase over time as more money is freed up.

Narlens Noel is one of my favorite college-players this year. He may have holes in his game like NoVoodoo said but they're only on the offensive end of the floor. Defensively, he's a big time player, worth a top 3 pick if healthy. His dedication to defense and how he defends the rim at a Lamarcus Aldridge/JJ Hickson height is impressive. I hope this injury isn't too serious, for his sake but also for basketball fans, the kid is a special (not one-of-a-kind, but special...) baskeball player.

Definitely him then :). I assume he will come back for another year of school now though?

He wouldn't be ready for next years training camp so I bet he stays. Also you never know how a player will return from an ACL tear so his draft value will plummet if he declares.

If he did come out in the draft, there is probably no way he would still be on the board when we picked, huh?

I think he would. He would probably go mid-first round at best with that gruesome injury.

Does this kill his chances of getting drafted this year? Will he do another season aT KY?

He should stay in. KMart got drafted #1 overall with a broken leg.

Broken leg and acl tear arent in the same category recovery wise. A clean break and youll be fine in a few months. An ACL tear leaves questions that cant be answered until the person is recovered and back on the court.

No, he's not. He actually recruits the one-and-done kids because he knows it's a farce, and he'll allow them to play in a pro style offense and defense for a year. There was a big SI article about it last fall, and he's said it many times. Calipari thinks that the college game would be much better served without the age restriction.

In this case, your "opinion" is provably wrong, but I'm sure you won't budge on it.

Steve Urkel (Chicago) What are your thoughts on Nerlens Noel's injury? Is he still going to declare for the draft this year? Chad Ford (1:46 PM) He hasn't indicated one way or the other, but I think it's likely. Every GM and scout I spoke with believes that he's still a Top 5 pick as long as his rehab is going well. They're willing to be patient. And with Andrew Wiggins coming next year, it's unlikely he'd be the No. 1 pick in 2014 anyway. ESPN.com
