I'm fine with a minimum wage that allows one to be self sufficient. By that I mean share an apartment, have money for bus fare, basic cell phone (no data plan...), food, clothes (used) and other basic necessities. In most areas, $9/hr will do that.
The minimum wage is not meant to be lived on, just like Welfare isn't meant to be lived on. Ideally, they are temporary until you are able to improve your situation. So High School kids should make enough money to live on their own, feed themselves, etc? Chances are they'll blow it on video games.
You should never fire anyone. Your sole purpose is to provide so that others can live. Remember Jesus!
It won't get you shit in Beverly Hills, yo. We have to make it so people working in Beverly Hills and making the minimum wage, can live and eat and party in Beverly Hills.
i worked at a pizza joint in point arena california for 4.75 an hour, i remember being super pumped when i got my first $80 check or so, went and bought the downward spiral hot off the press for like 17 bucks, and a bunch of weed, then smoked said weed and listened to it beginning to end while reading the lyric book and eating some zucchini and rice epic
i believe it is kinda tough for a single mom to support herself and child for minimum wage, what 1000 bucks a month? but mitt romney isnt worried about those people, they have a safety net :MARIS61:
and like the statistics say, these are generally young people (read: high school and college kids) not families or single moms.
Man some of you guys are very economically challenged. Making it illegal to get a job is a bad thing. High school dropouts and immigrants need jobs.
