http://www.blazersedge.com/2013/2/1...idge-discusses-interest-from-teams-around-the Team this year "We're OK. Young. We've got [Damian] Lillard who is going to be good, we've got Nic Batum who is getting better, so we should be better next year." Other teams have interest in acquiring LaMarcus Aldridge "That's an honor. I definitely want to win that championship so I'm definitely listening to everything everybody says. I definitely enjoy being in Portland, I love the city. But things might come to an end one day and when that happens, I'll listen then." huh? Interesting? Scary? To be understood? Out of context? Nothing to see here?
Nothing new here. If we suck next year he will probably ask for a trade. He is a FA in a few years and wants to win a championship, at the end of the day he wants to win and if we look good he is going to stay but if we won't He will do what most "star" players do when in a situation were there getting older and don't have a shot at a ring and thats try and get somewhere they do.
This is why finding a real player in the lottery is important this year, the timeline to build a contender around LA is pretty short ... then again, he's got a pretty friendly contract and would be easy to move for prospects in the last year of his deal, possibly rebooting the "contention" plan to one centered around Lillard, Batum and "yet to be named future player(s)"
Here's a new short interview of LaMarcus by his cousin David Aldridge, the big national sportswriter. Now, we all know that the Oregonian forced the Blazers to purge all black players with ghetto accents, and that Roy, Aldridge, Webster, etc all fit the bill. The only remaining exception was Outlaw. But this video shows that when LaMarcus gets around his relatives, he drops the Oregonian act. You can't even understand him at the end of the interview. Then David lists members on LaMarcus' side of the family. http://www.nba.com/video/channels/allstar/2013/02/16/20130216-all-star-.nba/index.html
I think it's more important to find veteran talent than in the draft. We don't have time to build up a draft prospect. I think the next two years are a win now mode. Grab a scorer off the bench, defensive center and maybe some intangible pieces like defensive perimeter specialist; and we are right on track.
I'm all about trading the draft pick if we get it for veteran talent at the Center position (Gortat!!!) to try and fit in that win now mold. We have 2 years to build a good playoff team or lose LMA, that draft pick isn't really going to help that. Now if we want to go a different route and look at moving LMA next year then i'm down with keeping the pick if we get it.
That's what management needs to really figure out. Aldridge would give us a ton in return; but he would most likely want to be traded to a contending team. Basically we would need to find a trading partner that maybe needs a player like Aldridge to get them over the hump. I could actually see okc being the best candidate this summer if we are really going that route. I believe they have a high lotto pick that they got via trade with Houston; plus they could possibly give us a sign and trade Martin and ibaka with the pick. If Aldridge went to okc; they would be the Miami heat of the west.
huh? I understood him fine (the audio was poorly edited though, they had the audio of the highlights bleeding into the feed).
I can't see us moving LA in the summer. Olshey is going to want to try and put something together to at least try to make a big impact next year especially with PA on record saying he wont go through another rebuild.
I don't either. Just giving a scenario. Personally I would rather oshley build via free agency and get winning pieces. We just need to contend and I don't think we are as far away as people think
Your trolling is really getting old. http://www.basketball-reference.com...at=&c5comp=gt&c6mult=1.0&c6stat=&order_by=per It is fine not to have every Blazer as your favorite player but Batum is clearly more then a role player.
I think Chicago is a likely place he'll end up. Neil has to be careful. If he trades LMA and doesn't land a real impact player, we could lose a top-5 pick in a strong draft to CHA.
That's funny your definition of "good" seems real close to my definition of "gawd awful franchise crippling dog shit".
if it was unprotected and they were donig worse that would be a decent deal. I'm not a big fan of the no Defense double double in Monroe, actually i'm changing this, he is basically hickson on D.
