But the factor is record; not actual players. Each event has 6 players on it.

I don't think all the past ones have had 6 contestants. It has gone through some rule changes.

The rule changes are annoying, but they've never really been able to market this competition.

Not to go off on a tangent, but am I the only one who thinks that the entire All-Star Weekend has been poorly managed, marketed, and produced? There were so many times where I just thought to myself, "damn, if I weren't such a fan, I would have tuned out hours ago."

Cleveland would never do it IMO, maybe for LMA + Lillard. Kyrie is on top the world right now, winning the 3pt contest with ease, and that's not even his strong suit, he's got a complete game. May be too early to predict, but he's looking like the modern day Jordan.

Will be fun to watch him go against Lillard for years to come, two of the brightest young stars in the NBA.

I really like Irving. The guy impresses me a lot. I'm not sure if he's really a point guard, per se, but he's definitely a huge talent. I would easily take him over Westbrook and possibly Rose depending on what he looks like post surgery.

Isn't Kyrie Greek for Lord or something?

Balderdash! They'd have to give us Varejao, Waiters, Thompson and 3 future 1st round picks unprotected along with Irving for us to even consider....
