That's a pretty big assumption. I have hopes for this summer, but the last few times we've had money it wasn't quite so simple.

We didn't have a GM that was worth a shit. Oshley needed a year of evaluation before he makes any drastic changes. I wouldn't even be surprised if he trades Matthews or Aldridge this summer. This free agent class is a damn good one. Better than what we could find in the draft.

Brian Grant was a plan C? How about Rod Strickland? Shremp? Maybe Kenny Anderson?

EDIT: WITH THE CURRENT FREE AGENT CLASS.

even plan C's will drastically improve our team's strength.

We need to build enough to make the playoffs next year, maybe even make it past the first round. Then our assets can be used to trade for higher quality players.

I think the team with the worst history of lottery picks has GOT to be the Clippers. Until recently they have been horrible.

Hickson Knows Trade From Blazers Unlikely

When told it wouldn't make sense for him to accept a deal out of the Portland Trail Blazers and that a trade scenario is not likely, J.J. Hickson smiled and nodded in approval.

“There you go then — you just said it,” Hickson said, laughing. “You just answered all your questions.”

Hickson has had a productive season for the Blazers, increasing trade speculation that has left the forward unfazed.

“I’m not going to get all hysterical about it being the trade deadline,” Hickson said. “I’ve been traded before. I’ve been waived before. This is nothing new to me.”

Thunder, Suns Discuss Perkins, Lamb, Pick For Gortat, Tucker Trade

The Oklahoma City Thunder and Phoenix Suns discussed a trade over the All-Star break centered on Marcin Gortat for Kendrick Perkins.

The Thunder would receive Gortat and P.J. Tucker from the Suns for Perkins, Jeremy Lamb and a first round pick.

Perkins is signed through the 14-15 season while Gortat becomes a free agent in 2014.

That is a damn good deal for them. SUCKS!!!!

Redick To Seek $10M Annual Deal In Free Agency

If that's his going price, then let him try and find a team stupid enough to give him that kind of money.

Something being over looked here about the cap space. Ther4e are lots and lots of rumblings about teams not wanting to get into repeater tax and will be looking to move long term contracts now or in the summer. The cap space we have could come in very good use in the summer.

I was thinking the same thing. On that free agent list, there are players that are on teams on the cusp of going into luxury. They just can't afford re-signing those players. Then you have sceanrios like you mentioned, where teams are willing to give high contract talent for expiring.
