Nice work. Free bench upgrade. Not a big move by any stretch, but given the trade deadline moves as a whole, this looks pretty nifty.

Nice article. I dunno if Neil is ready to spend that $3.4 mil yet though.

Let Maynor prove it to Neil in the "Tank By Resting Lillard" phase of the operation.

Fortunately, he doesn't have to spend it yet. He gets a free look for the rest of this season before deciding if Maynor fits long term. If he does, then $3.4M for a solid backup PG is a good deal.

So the cap hold if we make the offer is $5mil? That's going to cut into our free agency stash if we exercise it.

If he's the guy Olshey wants at the backup PG spot, I'd think that the Blazers would make a move to resign him ASAP so that the cap hold isn't an issue.

Yep. May as well reduce Lillard's PT to 34 mpg or so, yet not make it obvious that you're tanking by bringing in Maynor, who actually had a good playoff run for OKC in 2010-11. Westbrook was even benched at the end of a few games in those playoffs because Maynor was playing so well.

The Blazers got a nice piece OF nothing. Maynor isn't that good.

Looking at stats, Maynor is a better 3-point shooter than Price. That's about it. He'll have his moments, but can he win any games with clutch shooting? Now, that would be a difference-maker.

He's 13 months into a recovery for his ACL. His coach said this last month:

Kind of a no brainer in terms of cost.

Brooks certainly hasn't shown any confidence in him this past month, as he still hasn't played more than 9 minutes in a game since before Christmas.

I really would rather not looks at his stats. They mean very little right now. It all comes down to health. He was a
very good (Maybe even excellent) back up point guard before his injury, so the only thing I am concerned with his he 100 % healthy or not and will he ever be? (In terms of quickness) If he is or will be next year then it was a great trade. One less piece of the puzzle we need to worry about this summer.

I think/hope OKC was being very cautious with him and rightfully so since they had another decent back up. I assume he will fully recover, but you never know. He used his quickness to be successful. If he has lost it then all bets are off.

You think that Maynor will be in he game during the final minutes? I think that's a pretty unfair way to measure the effectiveness of a back-up PG.

Apropos of nothing, but didn't we have Shaun Livingston for a little bit?

EDIT: basketball-reference.com says no, but I could have sworn on a stack of bibles we had him but never played him or had him during pre-season or summer league or something. Maybe I'm living in an alternate universe now...
