Seems like this is how our involvement in Vietnam started.

No comments from those that oppose the war in Afghanistan? Here's your chance to oppose another war before it becomes a war. Or, do you see it differently, since Bush isn't starting it?

No speculation as to why we would be getting involved in an African war?

I didn't see this thread (and was busy). I don't know enough about it, but I'm not sure that deploying 100 troops somewhere is on par with the Iraq war (which was the bigger issue among people who were against the war).

But hey, whatever floats your boat.

A Gallup poll made on behalf of CNN and USA Today concluded that 79% of Americans thought the Iraq War was justified, with or without conclusive evidence of illegal weapons. 19% thought weapons were needed to justify the war.[9]

I know you're spoiling for a fight on this, but I just don't see it. The President has sent a little bit of intelligencew help and you're all over this being the start of a war. I mean, maybe it will be in time, but I certainly have no issue with the President assisting allies.

The unshaven part is fine, it's the lack of showering that gets to me.

There's a pretty big difference. Like about as big as the difference between Al-Qaeda and the USSR.

If you paid any attention to us guldurn libruls, you'd know that we're pretty opposed to Obama's warhawk bullshit. I don't think most people know enough about the region (that we just sent all of 100 troops to) to have the strong opinion you're looking to rage against.

Well, the article you linked gives me an idea...

Honestly, I don't know what you're wanting us peace loving commie pinkos to say. This move seems typical. We didn't even put troops in Mali, where the unrest is happening. Right now we're just watching from Niger and making a gesture of goodwill (i.e. "intelligence sharing") with the government there so we can set up a drone base. Personally, I don't agree with drone warfare, but I see nothing inherently wrong with (appearing to be) helping Mali fight off AQIM via intelligence sharing with Niger.

Seems like we're emulating the French economic system, right down to the high unemployment and weak recovery.

Seems that "high unemployment" and "weak recovery" are not economic policies. Also it seems that we don't tax our millionaires at 75% like they do.

Comparatively, it seems that the economies of USA and France are extremely similar and have been for a lot longer than the current administration. It seems the differences are small.

It seems that you want to portray Obama as worshiping at the alter of French Socialism which seems to make me roll my eyes SO HARD.

High unemployment and weak recovery are due to near identical economic policies.

As I pointed out in another thread, Germany and Ireland pursued austerity measures and are the two strongest (well, Germany is strongest, Ireland is doing great) economies in the EU.

France has had unemployment like the US has now for years and years - long before 2008.

Obama running for re-election talking about forgiving student loans or govt. paying for them is what they do in France.

Obama wanting to raise taxes on the rich constantly is what they're doing in France right now (and the rich are moving away).

We are still doing way better than Europe is, whether austerity has worked for them or not. And for every Germany, there's a Britain or Spain.

It's almost as if we are somehow different from them.

Hahahaha. Obama talking about doing those things are to secure the young (under 50) vote. There is literally no way that will happen. And that is not "what they do" in France. There's a big difference between subsidizing education and paying off loans already accrued.

France taxes millionaires 75%. 75%! I know you think Obama is the antichrist to capitalism, but come on. Your argument is weak. These vague trends and theoretical slippery slopes are hardly "worship."
