http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/POR/2013.html#advanced::17 JJ Hickson is the best defender on this team, according to DRtg! Okay, the next time someone uses this to determine how good or bad someone is defensively; I'm gonna laugh. LMAO!!!! Matthews is one of the worst defenders on this team?!?!?! LMAO! <script type="text/javascript" src="http://widgets.sports-reference.com/wg.fcgi?css=1&site=bbr&url=%2Fteams%2FPOR%2F2013.html&div=div_advanced"></script> ^^^^^Can someone explain how to embed these fucking tables?
Yeah it seems too many people put stock on the advanced stats, including myself. Maybe that's why teams still have "scouts" and watch videos to build their defense.
Pres...... you might not believe this, but i just had breakfast with one Terrance Scott aka Cool Nutz Tuesday morning at Cadillac Cafe. He's a very close friend of mine since elementary school. Great guy!
That is how bad overall our team and individual defense is. The number takes into account his player not when other players lose their guy and Hickson doesn't get there to help in time. So it is a bad stat overall but it shows how bad we need work everywhere.
Yes but it's used quite frequently in here for debate on how bad or better a player is defensively over another one. I want to expose just how inaccurate this stat is as an individual stat.
And DWS?! LMAO! So Hickson is a better defender than Matthews according to this stat as well? Wow, I can't believe I didn't look this shit up when some posters were trying to post this off as something of merit!
FWIW oppenent PER while playing primary position batum (SF) 12.8 lillard (PG) 13.6 matthews (SG) 14.5 LMA (PF) 16.4 hickson (C) 19.4 hickson (at PF) 26.5 LMA (at C) 12.5
apparently the best thing we can do is look for a shot-blocking defensive minded PF in the offseason and use LMA primarily on centers
Wow thanks for the link! That tells a lot! It's amazing on the stat of Lillard. Maybe he isn't as bad of a defender as we thought
Outside of Camby we basically were this bad in previous years: http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/POR/2012.html#advanced::17 http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/POR/2011.html#advanced::17
Better but not much better at all. At least according to the stats (which we now don't care much for).
or it means the blazers are good at helping out on PGs, but terrible against PFs. basically our pick and roll D sucks
I wish Stotts develops that swarming help D next season. I think we have the players quick and long enough to make it happen. It could solve a lot of issues.
