Did anyone else catch the pre-game show on ESPN tonight? They had the staff (Magic, Jalen, and... Wilbon/Broussard (?)) redo the top 6 picks in the '12 draft, knowing what they know today, and I think Jalen Rose was the only one that had Lillard #1. One of them (Magic I think) had both Davis and Beal ahead of him.

I wasn't paying too much attention, because ESPN does the most boring NBA coverage, but I was wondering if any of ya'll saw the same thing.

It's not surprising that people would still pick Davis over Lillard. Beal on the other hand, I don't think I'd make that move. The thing is, talented bigs always go ahead of guards or small forwards in the draft. I'm sure one day people will call Portland stupid for taking Oden ahead of Durant, but there wasn't a single GM who would have done it differently that day. Hopefully Davis can stay healthy, he isn't off to a good start.

I still think Davis will put up early Okafor #s. 13/11

I think the only GMs who said they would have taken Durant first was Houston and Orlando. (Yao & Howard)

    Rookie efficiency/game in February.
Lillard was #3 despite being #1 in minutes.

    Rookie efficiency/minutes in February.
Freeland (#10) and Leonard (#19) were better than Lillard (#22).

Good old Hoopstats has served me well through the years. This new NBA.com PIE statistic is worthless. I checked and they don't use the formula they claim they use. (GmStat means the total of that stat for all players on both teams in a game)

Anyway, here are how rookies ranked in PIE for February games, even though their results aren't correct, if you put the numbers into the formula.

Wanna know why rookie EFF/minute is one of the most useless stats ever invented? Ask yourself this:

When preparing to play the Blazers how many coaches say this:

"Forget about Lillard. He's crap. The key to beating the Blazers is clamping down on Feeland."

For those who missed it in the other thread, Lillard was named Western Conference ROM for February:

    http://www.nba.com/#$/2013/news/03/01/waiters-lillard-rookies-february/index.html

The voters agree with the "homers". Lillard has won ROM all four months and continues to be the run away favorite to win ROY. Especially, with Anthony Davis missing his 15th game of the season. Davis has missed exactly 1/4 of his teams games.

Wonder if a player has ever won the majority of Rookie of the Month awards and NOT won Rookie of the Year?

If ESPN had their way, Dame might be the first.

I remember a lot of the experts in here made fun of me when I hyped Beal because they said he was undersized.

I've always thought he was overhyped. But, I think he'll always be a fringe AS type guy. He shows glimpses of doing great things, just not sure if he'll ever put it all together.

    Lol. He'll crush those numbers.

Per 36 right now he's putting up 16/10, with 2.3 blk and 1.5 stl. He's one of the better bigs to come in the league in a while.

    These Okafor/Wright comparisons are ludicrous.

You seem to be taking this personally. Perhaps you should chill. I very much doubt Lillard gives a crap whether he wins ROY or not.

You've bashed per/36 in the past. Now you're promoting it?

I'm not promoting anything other than Davis being a much better talent than Wright and Okafor.... and it isn't close

You think Dame doesn't care if he wins ROY? I'd bet he damn sure cares that he wins. It's an honor and a stepping stone to bigger things.

Also, why do you care what I post about the topic? It's just my thought and feelings on the topic. How does it affect you?

It doesn't, but I have a right to my opinions as well, and I just think its kind of funny how worked up you are with one person's opinion. (It's not ESPN, it's David Thorpe)
