Aldridge is the only one who seems to understand what tanking is. He's a veteran tanker.

Marc Gasol has been the best Gasol for a while, but now he might be the best center in the league. Seriously - name a better one.

Bayless killing us hurts a little, but if it persuades Memphis to pay him money to keep him then they end up the losers.

You misread the stats. The teams were 10-32 from the three point line.

Not really hyperbole....name a Blazer who is more over-rated than LA. He's a 6-11 with a jump shot, so he can get his shot, shoots a mediocre %, and scores on volume. He doesn't bring much else to the table. All other facets of his game are very mediocre at best. LA is the 268th ranked player in the league at eFG%. That shows you he is NOT an efficient scorer....but anyone who watches all that weak fade away shit he takes all game should know that.

LA = a poor mans Channing Frye. (at least Channing can hit the 3).

I agree. He's even a solid defender. A better defender than Pau's ever been.

To put LA's scoring efficiency into perspective, if the Blazers shot the same % he did, they would have the 6th worst shooting % in the NBA. But the Blazers are actually ranked 14th, the team as a whole is more efficient than LA, their "all-star leader".

To put your solid post into perspective, LA shoots 47.7% on the season. Only 3 teams shoot better than that. The Blazers are nowhere near that. Want to try again?

Are you serious? Gasol gets 13.9 ppg and 7.8 rpg.

    Howard 16/12
    Chandler 11/11

    Gasol isn't close

Thanks... always a tough loss on the other end when a team makes a comeback like that. I was sure ya'll had us buried when ya'll were up that big and we still had Tony Wroten running the point.

I don't remember the exact numbers, but apparently Portland has dominated the series history. I know that includes some of the down-and-out years from the Vancouver and early Memphis days, but the numbers were still impressive, all things considered.

It's pretty odd that Randolph didn't play against the Blazers, for the second time this season. I know he's still got a house out there. I wonder what's up with that... he's had a five game rest for a reported "minor" ankle injury already.

Ah, good call. Still some pretty unusual FT shooting for both teams...

C'mon, you can't just look at ppg and rpg. That's not what Gasol's game is about at all. He can score, and he can rebound, but his game is more about opening up the offense for the team. That's why he averages four assists to Chandler's one. When we feed Marc the ball, he attracts a lot of attention defensively, and there's probably not a big man in the game that's better at passing out of double teams and making quick passes within five feet of the basket. Chandler's offensive game, on the other hand, is pretty much non-existent. His defense is really overrated as well. He's a good defender but not a great defender. Not only does Gasol have a higher bpg, but I think he's a better overall team defender. The only thing he really does better than Gasol is crash the glass, but it's sort of hard to average 10+ rpg when the second leading rebounder in the NBA is playing alongside of you.

I'll give you Howard, when healthy, but Gasol's on a whole nother level than Chandler. That's not just fan bias. I'll be critical of the Grizz players that deserve it, but without Gasol, this team would easily be on the playoff bubble. I don't think you can say that for any other player on the roster.

What about Noah? Another All Star ahead of Gasol in the pecking order....

You definitely have to consider him up there. I really think Duncan's the best center in the game, and closely following him are Gasol, Noah, and the injured version of Howard. The one thing that separates Gasol from Noah is his ability to hit outside shots. I know that Noah's got an surprisingly high FT%, but Gasol's shooting touch is on a whole nother level. That just really opens up your offense when you have a center that can hit 15-foot jumpers better than a lot of shooting guards can.
