Fuck ya... From obscurity to the first team "out" in Joe Lunardi's "First Four Out." All of this northeast bias is so bullshit. Compare Villanova to Tennessee, and it's a joke. If UT doesn't stumble in their next two, they should be in.
Whoops, I guess you're right. Thought Iowa St. was in a mid-major conference, not the Big 12. Also checked their histories and they're quite comparable. For some reason I think of Iowa as a consistently relevant team over the last few decades whereas Iowa State I tend to think hasn't generally been very good most of the time.
Michigan goes down to Penn St. My Zags are looking like a lock for the #1 seed if we take care of business.
They definitely deserve it. The bullshit thing is that a lot of the analysts will inevitably talking smack on the Zag's when they get the #1 ranking next week. I've had already friends dismissing their #2 ranking this week. There's no denying how good their talent is, their competitive non-conference schedule, and their great coaching. Hell, Gonzaga was a preseason top 25 team this season before Olynyk started to have his Wooden-worthy breakout season. The real question after Michigan's meltdown is who's the fourth #1 seed at this moment? I guess it's have to be Miami for the moment... I just hope Georgetown doesn't start getting in the #1 seed discussions. There's not a bigger paper tiger in the top 10 right now. Give me Miami, Michigan St., Florida, or Michigan before Georgetown... even with all the losses this week.
Still can't believe ya'll dropped that one in Indianapolis... the Zags are essentially one really stupid mental lapse away from being 30-1... Also, when was the last time you had an unranked team that has beaten both the #1 and #2 teams? Illinois can now say that, for the second week in a row. They rely on the long ball so much, but when they're on, they're deadly... just ask Ohio State and Butler fans. The media's been calling them inconsistent, schizophrenic, etc., but the reality is that they just play a style of play where they can pull the monumental upset or get blown-out by Northwestern, depending on how their outside shots are falling. They're going to be one of those teams that will either be a quiet first round exit or really fuck up everyone's brackets.
The Illini came out of the gates firing with the Maui Invite and all and then IMO lousy coaching sunk that team. Way too reliant on streaky shooting.
Here's a video of the fight that went down at the end of the St. John's/Notre Dame between Biedscheid and Pointer.
Wow, those teammates are pussies. If I was one of them and saw my friend just get PUNCHED IN THE FACE, I wouldn't go grab my teammate to hold him back, someone would have to hold me back.
You know, I was thinking the same thing, but if I were Cooley, I probably be pretty pissed at Biedscheid for starting that fight on senior night. I mean, he's leaving the game to the last standing ovation of his career, and meanwhile, one of his freshman teammates is running his mouth and starting a fight. I think in most situations, I'd have my teammates' back, but in that situation, I'd just pull him away and not have my career remembered for flaring a brawl on my senior night.

True, and if they beat Florida this weekend, that probably puts them back in as an at-large. The way they're playing without Noel though, a whole nother team would have to show up against Florida and in the SEC tournament for that to happen. Harrow and Goodwin are just too out of control.
If anyone's by a tv, tune into ESPN2 - St. Mary's/San Diego, 1 pt game, 46 seconds left... Winner plays Gonzaga in the WCC finals, San Diego has led pretty much the entire game,... EDIT: St. Mary's now down 3 with 16 seconds left and the ball, probably going to come down to Dellavedova taking a last second shot, even though he's shot like shit all game...
And Dellavedova sends it to OT with the three! Even if you're not a college fan, this is going to be a good OT to watch. For San Diego, this game is their whole season. For St. Mary's, they're pretty much in the tournament, but having the opportunity to win the WCC title over Gonzaga's got to be on their minds. They lost both their regular season games against the Zags, and that's a rivalry that's really taken on some legs over these last few years.
Brad Waldow's one of my new favorite players. Guy got his front tooth knocked out, and he's out there hustling for loose balls like he's never known the meaning of contact. 23 pts, 16 rbs, 3 blks for the sophomore Waldow so far... EDIT: St. Mary's takes it by three in OT. Even though San Diego outplayed them and probably got jobbed on a few calls in OT, they had their chances to win it at the end and made some pretty awful consecutive mistakes under pressure. Oh well, just means a better WCC Finals... St. Mary's vs. Gonzaga - Round 3, this Monday (9 PM ET/6 PM PT), should be a whole lot of grit n' grind in that one...
