So if someone said this time last year that the Bulls starting backcourt tonight would be Marco Bellinelli and Nate Robinson I wonder what the reaction would have been. Sad thing is, out of all the guards that have played for us this year, those are the two best. Rough loss.
Funny thing is, I've posted quite a few times that Nate is the best guard we have on the team. All along. And Belinelli has been nailing it in the starting lineup. In fact, I cannot be happier with Belinelli as our starter. The guy is a real 20 point threat every game. He doesn't need to be a volume shooter to score (20 points on 16 shots is pretty darned good). The guy can hit the 3pt shot regularly enough. He'll make clutch free throws at the end of close games when opponents are forced to foul. On top of all those things I mentioned, he is an excellent ball handler for an SG, and is a decent choice to be the guy to take the big shot at the end of quarters or games. The Bulls have desperately needed a guy with those skills to play alongside Rose. Too bad he's going to be playing elsewhere next season. Someone's going to give him more than the vet minimum.
I like Belinelli as starter. Better then Hamilton. Interesting to see that Belinelli scored 20.5 ppg in the last 2 losses and only 6.5 ppg in the last 2 wins as a starter.
We have no bench. And... He scored 20.5 against two of the top teams in the league, though. Those other games were easy wins where he didn't have to play even starter's minutes.
I agree. Marco is clearly the best option on the team for starting 2 guard. Nate has been highly productive, but I don't like him as my starting PG due to his style of play (he's not a PG!). Great guy to come off the bench though and fill it up when needed. I'd like to see both Marco and Nate stick around. Sadly, we have Teague and Hinrich under contract, yes? Teague looks next to useless. Could be good if he develops a jump shot, but dang, I've not seen a guy that is just flat out afraid to shoot the basketball like him in quite some time.
Bulls have an option on Teague. They would be fools not to exercise it. I'd rather have him on the team than another Nazr roster filler.
Word. Teague was on fire there for a time against the Spurs. It was like a miracle. I have hope for him.
I have lots of hope for him. He's like 19, right? You aren't a #29-ish pick who gets big minutes at age 19 on the team with the best record in the league two seasons running.
