Hey would you mind telling your 865th cousin that me grass needs trimming. Oh and tell cousin 744 that the last time she washed my cloths, she used too much starch. Speaking of which, tell cousin 1,254 that she needs to wear a coat when she is selling flowers. She might catch a cold!
I think so. If we weren't, the minutes would be cut back greatly. Stotts wants to win. The players want to win.
I wonder the value of Lillard and company getting to the playoffs even if it means getting blown out but at the same time motivating him for the future and getting some experience vs the value of the pick we would get if we didn't.
I think this is Olshey's thinking, to be honest. If we play just good enough to get out of the top 12 lotto spots, we give up our draft pick, but gain a bunch of flexibility. Remember, as long as we *might* have to give up our pick this year (or any future year) we can't trade the next year's draft pick. Just getting that over with now will give Neil more trade-making flexibility, by being able to offer a pick in a stronger draft like 2014 or 2015 along with a piece to attract a good returning piece.
People had the same argument when Rose was taking the very young and inexperienced bulls team to the playoffs in 2009. The improvement Rose showed in the playoffs and his subsequent play is a good standard to show what that kind of confidence can do to you.
Who says we'd get blown out. We could upset the Spurs. I think it's between us and the Lakers for the last spot. We get one more game against Houston and Lakers at the Rose Garden and TWO games against the Jazz at the Rose Garden. The playoffs are there for the taking. 6. Golden State 35-28 7. Houston 34-29 8. Utah 32-31 ---- 9. Lakers 32-31 (Jazz have tie breaker). ---- 10. BLAZERS 29-32. 2.0 games back 11. Dallas 28-33. 3.0 games back
(12) Games Left In March: 10 - @ New Orleans 12 - Memphis 14 - NY (No STAT) 16 - Detroit 18 - @ Philly 19 - @ Bucks (B2B) 21 - @ Chicago 22 - @ Atlanta (B2B) 24 - @ OKC 27 - Brooklyn 29 - Utah 30 - Golden State (B2B) Whataya think....7-5, perhaps?
Draft assets for a small market rebuilding team are EXTREMELY overrated. Imaginary cap space is the way to go.
