This happened last time because they would test the market with "Limited Edition" crap that was always only $10 more, people showed they were willing to pay more, so they jacked up the prices. Same thing happened this gen I'm sure.

From what I heard that's a rumor which is untrue. Also rumor is the system will debut in the $300-$400 range, which is pretty good for a new system.

Plus when you get done with DLC most games are over $100 dollars.

good to hear. I'll still probably wait for a year or so. Usually too many bugs to work out with new systems.

Just get a Steam Box over the new Xbox. That's what i'm doing when my PC can't play games any more. Will probably pick up a Ps4 at launch if it really is $400 though.

That's my thinking as well. Something always goes wrong at first with new systems.

It's kind of like a Gaming PC in a console's body? Best way i can think to explain it.

    http://www.theverge.com/2013/2/6/3958162/valve-steam-box-cake

It looks like different companies will be making their own version too, hopefully not for as much as what seems to be the first one. Still having a Gaming PC in the living room will be cool for people, think of the mods in games like Skyrim for Consoler gamers!

Oh, and THE Steam Box, made by Valve, the price hasn't be announced yet, but that is the one you will probably want.

So unenthusiastic about the next gen systems right now. Probably going to stick with the PC for the first while at least.

$70 is fucking ridiculous. How many of these games do you play for like a week or two and then put away?

Obviously games like Madden or COD are something you play for a while, but other games you have no reason to keep after you've beaten them. And if they somehow make it so you can't resell them... that's just complete and utter greed. I'm so tired of major corporations. They couldn't give two shits about the people they sell to.

I agree, but I was also listening to a Gamescoop podcast, and they were playing devils advocate and going from counterpoints. When you buy games on Steam, or IOS or whatever, you cant resell them. Its basically the same thing.

Although IOS games at most are like $15 for the HUGE games, and Steam regularly has sales.

If the next gen consoles did Steam like Sales a couple times a year, I'd calm down a little about it.

You cant compare steam with the others right now. Sony and Microsoft sell hardware at a loss and make money on software. All steam does is sit back and sell software at the advantage of not having a loss to start out with because of the hardware sales.

once steam starts selling hardware (at a loss) it wouldnt surprise me to see them do similar things

I'm talking about across the board though. Games are getting too damn expensive.... especially since the pricks want to charge us for expansion packs. I have no problem paying the $15 a month for WoW because they actually patch their shit and care about their user base. The assholes at Infinity Ward cranked out COD and then left it to the hackers and the exploiters. They don't give a shit. Once you've paid for the game, they only care about cranking out the next expansion or the next game. Patching or preventing hackers isn't even on their list of priorities.
