There were stats provided http://www.blazersedge.com/2013/3/4...arcus-aldridge-among-nbas-best-post-defenders
Well those threads used stats that showed hickson a better defender and anyone that thinks that would be laughed off the forum
This. If any of those posts involved DRtg than they don't mean anything. DRtg is only used by low-information posters.
That's the thing. There is no advanced stat that tells if a player is a good defender. That's why you need scouts
Part of DWS is based on DRtg Then it's based on the players around you, how many minutes you play, etc
And when your team is shit on defense; then your defensive win share, rating ect. Is shit. Prime example is Matthews is one of our worst defenders if you use that advanced stat
This thread, as most about la, are getting insane. To me it boils down to the fact LA is better then Monroe now but there is a chance Monroe could be better in the future. I doubt Monroe will be and doubt he ever really be anything but a poor defender. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Why is this thread all about comparing how 2 Power Forwards shoot? PFs exist to REBOUND !!!!!!!! Aldridge doesn't rebound because all he thinks about is shooting!!!! And you fans fall into the same trap!!!
Funny you should mention that. Aldridge and Monroe are washes in rebounds. http://m.bkref.com/m?p=XXplayersXXmXXmonrogr01.html 9.5 http://m.bkref.com/m?p=XXplayersXXaXXaldrila01.html 8.6 Guess your argument doesn't apply
Time to change the rules. Are PG's only meant to assist? Better trade Lillard. Seriously who cares who does what as long as it gets taken care of? Lot of things needed for teams to be successful. Scoring is one of them.
This thread is about that, and most of the discussion seems to be about that when the original idea was posted but that's not the original discussion. It's whether or not a front court of LMA + whatever center we can get and the pieces we acquire after that with our limited space are better long term than Monroe + what we could acquire with the all the capspace we can free up. Monroe doesn't have to become better than LMA for that to be a successful, by freeing up an extra 10M or more that puts us in a position to add several pieces. One of those pieces discussed was a guy like Millsap, so a frontcourt of Millsap/Monroe and an extra 8-9M left after signing Maynor vs Aldridge/Dalembert or Gortat or someone plus a resigned Maynor. Of those two hypothetical rosters I'm just arguing in favor of the 1st.
No, keep the same proven conventional wisdom. If a PG gets no assists, he can average 30 ppg and he still hurts his team. A PG's 1st priority is assists, not scoring. A PF's 1st priority is rebounds, not scoring. Until Aldridge rebounds like he should, his focus on scoring will hurt his team.
Just not the case over-all tonight. Maybe it was the case in a certain stretch of minutes but that is cherry-picking stats.
