The reach is the important thing. All of those players have tremendous wingspans. Very tough to pass through d like that.
I'm not sure. What's insane is how underrated Chris Paul is then, going by your barometer. Jordan also isn't loved by advanced defensive metrics like RAPM, other players get more love there because his defense is soft. Lastly people talk too much about Magic, Kobe won five rings and he was a better player offensively than Magic probably, yet he was a mere role player in 3 title runs. Ultimately Kareem and Wilt have better stats than Jordan, but only because of their weaker eras. I think Jordan's era is also weaker than this current one, so you have to take into account that as well.
Yeah reach is more important than height for a lot of stuff, think of Dwyane Wade versus Evan Turner for example.
