When they start passing legislation that favors their industry and damages the American public.

Like I said, patenting life. They have enabled Monsanto to seek legal action against just about anyone their hearts desire because of this bullshit. They have almost completely killed off the seed recycling industry in America. A Monsanto truck can be on a highway driving past your farm and if one of their seeds falls off the truck, they can sue you for copyright infringement. Go watch Food Inc and tell me you don't have objections about the agriculture industry in America right now. This latest bill that protects Monsanto is just the most recent in a long line of bullshit.

The government is looking out for the best interests of these companies, not the best interest of you and me.

Who else? I would rather Joe Schmoe take over as head of the FDA and be educated on what's going on, rather than have someone from one of these companies take over. It's like having an ex-felon take over as the chief of police. How can it possibly go well?

It's an obvious conflict of interest when they leave a company, like Monsanto, to work in the government. They pass legislation that benefits Monsanto, and then shortly after go back to work for Monsanto. You don't think that seems a little shady?

This is just a portion of the film "Food Inc". It's only 27 minutes long. Please watch it.

I agree with you Nate, just playing a little devils advocate because people in industry are good candidates for these types of jobs for non conspiracy reasons. I think the real fix in this area is to limit the control corporations have on our government in general, we are quickly becoming "we the people for the company and its bottom line"

Yup. I don't think corporations should be able to donate money to campaigns.

Separation of Economics and State is the answer.

Instead of having the best government money can buy (in every sense of the word), it should be not worth bribing an official because it doesn't get you squat.

Let the courts sort it out.

We have a President who has literally zero business experience or medical experience completely revamping those aspects of American life, and lecturing people that he knows best while hectoring the "1%", and you're worried about people with experience in agriculture being involved with the FDA? He also rails against "Wall Street", while filling his Treasury with people who worked on Wall Street, and the idiotic masses buy his carnival barker act.

Who should we get, some random people off of the street? I know you're not this naive...

The courts are perhaps the most politically corrupted entity outside of Congress that we have, and there are no checks and balances for that branch.
