I didn't want to keep hijacking the #10 pick thread, but I'm curious: Who are the top 4-5 guys who you think will be on the board at #10, and who would you choose for us if you were Olshey? -I think McCollum will be there unless someone in the Top 9 thinks he's a PG and drafts him 8 spots earlier. -One of Olynyk/Zeller/Len should be there, but I don't think two will and we'll be left with the "loser" of the 3. I think it depends on workouts, and if I was one of those 3 I'd want to crush the others multiple times in workouts. -Dieng and Gobert should be available, if you're looking for offensively raw, defensive-minded big men. -I think the guy who might slip and be a BPA that overrides what we need will be either Shabazz or Porter. And while I don't really LOVE either one, I think if they're on the board (and I think one will be) then you take him. In summary, I think that the team will look for a big, but if Porter or Shabazz are there for the Wing of the Future pick, then that's where we'll go. With a teeny chance of McCollum, but I think he'll be gone.
I think there's a very good chance that we trade the pick. That's just my gut. If Olshey is really wanting to make a deal on or before the draft, I think the pick is gone.
Well, it was mine first you fucking cocksucker! (sorry, in the middle of watching season 2 of Deadwood)
I hope they package it with Leonard and Matthews In the draft I'd like to get I think Porter Bennett Oladipo Muhammad Gobert Dieng Maybe Len Have the best chance to be good players
The only thing that makes sense is to keep the pick. If they package it in a trade it will only be more evidence that this season was a complete and utter disaster. Why would you package it with a starter in a trade when the team's biggest need by far is depth?
I have the opposite view and to me i think we try and trade it for a center. I don't think we package it in a trade with any of our top 4 players but after that who can say. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
I was interested in Marcus Smart (I know he's nominally a PG, but he's a great defender and could play alongside Lillard just like the Clippers play Billups and Paul together and the Knicks start two PGs) but he shocked everyone by staying in. I want one of the plethora of decent centers in the draft, but I would hope to get Dieng by buying a lower pick. So: trade it. For God's sake don't get Olynyk, that's all I ask.
I'd be shocked if McCollum went top-10. I think Smart returning to school really screwed us. Had he stayed in, I would have felt pretty confident in one of Shabazz/Porter/Burke dropping to 10--now, I don't think that happens. IMO, top-9 locks are Mclemore, Noel, Bennett, Oladipo, Muhammad, Porter. Other likelies are Burke, Len, Zeller. I think that the players that will be considered BPA's when #10 rolls around will be McCollum, Olynyk, Gobert, & MCW, but I like GR3 better than all of them.
seems to me with the Quick article this morning and the sentence of hoping to me "mostly done" by draft day, that we are going after a C with capspace and and maybee the pick.
I don't think there are any locks in the 5-10 position, I think it will be very fluid and based on workous you are going to see a lot of changes as we get close to draft night, this IMO may be one of the most unpredictable "5-15" drafts is history
I have to say that none of the big men who will be available at #10 float my boat. If the team is going to roll the dice, I hope it will be on someone like MCW or GR3. Trading up would be nice - but I don't see it happening. More likely they just trade out.
I hope they use it in a trade--maybe for somebody who wants Zeller or Carter-Williams. If they keep the pick, I'm hoping for Len or Gobert (if they think he has the potential to develop). I really don't want to develop another wing. You can put me down for Dieng too. I don't care if it is a bit older. For a C that is fine. Has good rebounding and blocked shot numbers and a big body. Ford seems to like McGary for us, comparing him to David Lee. I'd be more interested in him if he comped with Bill Laimbeer. The only guy I really don't want is Muhammad. Volume scorer with no other skills (defense, passing, rebounding) just doesn't appeal.
