I am offering an opinion. I hate the idea of McGee. Are you 12?

So with this, can we potentially go over the cap?

I offer up plenty of ideas. Are you being serious?

I happen to like the idea of Tyreke Evans, and I've posted it plenty of times. Just not with McGee, since this thread is about centers.

    Stop being so sensitive.

If I see McGee on this roster next year i'll puke. The guy has a huge contract, he hasn't earned it and his D is very very bad. He can get blocks and rebounds but thats all he does. I'd rather pay an unkown Mozgov 11m a year then McGee. I only take McGee if we send out nothing and Denver gives us Corey Brewer and their first round pick this year.
I'd send our pick to PHX for Gortat, yes he is a one year rental but we could give him a 3 year extension and if at anytime Leonard looks like he is ready to start moving a good defensive center like Gortat wouldn't be hard. If we can't get him i'd call up Wash and see about a trade surrounding Okafer or NeNe. I'd also call up Chicago and see if something along the lines of our pick and Mathews interests them in moving Noah.
If the Pacers get knocked out in the first round they might be interested in moving Hibbert.
If we don't make a move on draft night i'd send a contract at splitter at 4/40m.
Or if we don't like any of the FA on the market we could do something radical like absorbing Pau Gasol contract for scraps and testing the market next year when Gasol's contract expires and LA is set to test FA.
I also wouldn't mind drafting Deing and throwing him to the wolves off the bat. Tell him and Leonard that they each have 6 fouls and are expecting to use them every game.

My understanding was that in essence, we can. We can go over the cap to sign JJ, and can trade for a guy with a similar new salary? Is there a precedence to this?

I think Olshey is hoping MEM beats LAC here in the first round. He is after Jordan. I not thrilled with DeAndre but a lot of Centers have some kind of tick and I can't debate that he isn't an upgrade. Just not thrilled with his contract either (makes 11 MIL a year also). That is my guess though. If LAC bombs out then it is Jordan.

No, I'm just going to put whoever this is on ignore. Much easier.

This is how it works. In order for the Blazers to have the cap room the desire, they need to renounce Hickson as well as Maynor. You can do a S&T, but it's trickier under the new CBA. Because we would be under the cap, we would also lose one of the exceptions. (MLE, I think?)

I rambled and answered nothing. Sorry

The short answer is that you can't 'cheat' on cap space. It's going to be a solid number going into FA.

I'd like storyteller or Brian from Wa to clarify though. I wonder if certain things are done by certain dates or whatever that we could use more exceptions to sign guys and such

Olshey has repeatedly mentioned "maximizing" our cap space. Hopefully, he actually follows through. It's not cheating or circumventing, it's just being smart.

So, after nearly 300 posts we have come to the following conclusion:

Every player available is available because they have question marks or a bad contract (or both). The team either does something that involves risk - or does nothing at all.
