Rockets are looking to shed salary so they can sign Dwight Howard and Chris Paul. I'm sure they're extremely willing to trade those two contracts for a pick or picks if possible. Would you be interested? I would. Lin would be an expensive backup but Asik is a decent option at center.
I don't think we have the bulk of picks they would require to be trade partners. But I'd be all for it. Asik is a no brainier and Lin would be backup pg and also play some pg with Lillard sliding over to the two.
Sounds good to me. Probably not to Houston. But to be honest Kingspeed you are not that far off if they really think they can get Howard. Lin IMO is a back up for most teams, but I think he is a good fit next to Harden as he does not want to shoot the ball. But if they did trade him they would need to replace him with another PG.
Um. Read my post. They'd be replacing him with Chris Paul. I don't think Houston needs a lot of picks nor would they fetch them for those two contracts. If Paul and Howard are interested, they just need Lin/Asik to leave to make the necessary cap room. We could take them for our 10th pick. Totally reasonable. We'd be building a Superteam in Houston but we would get better ourselves.
A side question is, do you really think Paul wants out of the clips? And would Paul want to tie himself to Howard who keeps proving he has a child's mentality.
At first I was thinking it would be a no brainer for us. From what I saw of Asik he appears to be for Houston what we hoped Roy Hibbert would have been for us. But then I took a look at his numbers realized he's not much of a defensive presence. I was thinking he's young, maybe he's got room to grow, but he's not that young, he's 27. Another thing is that we don't have the cap space to absorb the two of them. We'd have to throw in Wesley to make it work. I'm not wild about starting a Lin/Lillard back court.
I'm not a fan of a Lin/Lillard back court either. Wouldn't mind Lin coming off the bench but I don't want to give up Mathews and the 10 for both of them since I view one of them as a backup. Would probably have to be a three team trade because the rockets don't want to take on anymore capspace if there clearing it and I don't mind giving up the 10th pick for Asik.
Is there anyone on any team having a crappier playoffs than Jeremy Lin? He and Mike D'Antoni REALLY need to reunite. I say the Rockets should swap Steve Blake and Jeremy Lin. After all, if James Harden is Brandon Roy II then Steve Blake is made for him...
This is a total homer trade, they would laugh at us and deservedly so. Even if they did want to shed salary there is a ton of teams with cap who would and should pay a lot more., try to be somewhat realistic
It's true that he isn't a shot blocker, but that doesn't mean he's not a presence. He's just more of a positional, contest w/o fouling type of rim protector. Take a look at any of the advanced stats on synergy or bball-ref and he rates as a great defender.
I was mostly trying to make myself feel better about this trade being so obviously unrealistic by saying it wouldn't be that great. But it would be that great. I bet a Lin / Lillard back court would even be great.
