He is making 11 mil next season. He definitely has 2 more good solid years left in him too. He is a great help defender, leader and champion. Having Garnett play along-side Aldridge would be a Twin Towers you wouldn't believe.

I think Portland could offer Batum, #10 and Freeland for Garnett and Green. It's a short term move, but it would definitely move the needle. Boston is in total rebuild mode and I suspect getting the #10, cap relief and getting rid of Garnett's salary would be just what they want to move forward.

Garnett would just retire if he was traded here.

He didn't even want to go to the Clippers when they discussed moving him there at the deadline.

If you could convince Garnett to play for us, I'd say go for it. He has the ability and drive to completely change our defensive environment.

Olshey may be the perfect sales person to get er done. It would be a great move IMO.

I wonder if KG could threaten that he will not play for us unless Pierce goes with him (as they seem to be butt buddies). #10, cash, future seconds, Batum, Mathews, Freeland?

I think Pierce will retire a Celtic.

Then so will Garnett. That said, if he was willing to come to Portland, I'd HATE this move. It won't win us a championship and I cannot stand Garnett and his fake tough guy act.

Garnet made some sense for the Clips because they were closer to the prize than Portland is.

True he would help the Blazers (Somewhat) if it didn't take much to get him, but I see no way he would sign here at this point. He will end up with a contender or he will retire.

But then again, Garnett would be the best "Stop Gap" center for this club. His contract runs out, just when most think Leonard will come in strong enough to start. But the two years he's on contract, he will be a formidable leader and center. He's also able to log in 30 minutes a game; which is much better than the other options at the stop gap center. Leonard can get a solid 20 minutes a game while he develops.

So the Blazers get older immediately, and get two players from a team that just lost in the first round in the East?

Plus, if we thought the bench was bad this year, it would be even worse next year.

Why would you trade valuable assets for a stop gap that'll win you nothing. You're selling the future for a shot at mediocrity next year. I'll pass. Garnett (putting my dislike of him aside) would only be valuable for a team that was one piece away from the title. LAC, OKC and Memphis could all use him. Same with Chicago or NYK. But for a team in the lotto he isn't going to do much.

Garnett has a straight-up no-trade clause. If Olshey trades for him, he'll play.

But he won't be willing to come here, so it's moot.

True and true. Don't think it will happen, but I'd think it would be fun to watch. I agree that I Don't think it would get us over the hump.

Batum has 1 more year on his contract than Garnett. How exactly is 3 years w/ a young player that has some value (if we traded him) that much riskier than 2 years with a player who could retire at any moment?

?? All this is speculation. I doubt anyone actually believes KG would be traded here. I'd assume you would like to trade everyone for draft picks?
