Just Another Stupid Trade Idea: Stoudamire + Shumpert for Matthews + Freeland + Claver + $9.8 Mil Cap Space Lineup: Lillard, Shumpert, Batum, Aldridge, Stoudamire Bench: #10, Barton, Room Exception, Leonard (Maybe Maynor with some cap shenanigans) ------ Is Stoudamire's injury problems likely to extend into next season? Do you like it? Would the Knicks like it?
If were taking Stoudamire off of NY's hands I'd demand 2 first rounders and shumpert and would only give them Freeland/salary filler.
He makes so much $ we have to give up Matthews. In addition to draft picks they have a trade exception.
then i'd pass, Stoudamire isn't worth his contract and Shumpert isn't worth giving up Mathews for is it means taking back that injury prone bloated to all hell contract.
Can't stay healthy is an issue. Grossly overpaid is not, especially when Lillard while Lillard is grossly overpaid. The goal is to become relevant. If Stoudamire can stay healthy we'd be just that. Note: post-trade we'd still be under the cap.
We would still be one of the worst defensive teams in the league. Stoudamire is an utter atrocity on D to the point he said he had never been taught D earlier this year. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
He has Brandon Roy knees on a max deal. The Knicks tried to trade him last summer and couldn't give him away.
He was better than him this season. And will continue to be better every season from this point forward.
I like Shumpert a little bit, but this is not a clear "win" for the Blazers on a talent basis and when you factor in the financials it's flat out horrible for a small market team like the Blazers.
We do seem to be gluttons for microfracture surgery. Trade for Amare, Kidd and K Mart and I think we'll have/had all active NBA players with mfracture surgery on our roster at some point...
I think you we won't get there with incremental changes. For that to happen, Olshey will have to be smarter than most all of the other GMs - maybe. It's more likely we take a chance on a player or two with some "problem" - injury past, 10 cent head, or even draft someone from a small school. Of course the last one has worked out for us, maybe one of the others will as well.
The future looks like it'll cost all of our cap space + #10 + our shooting guard - seems pretty expensive to me. The future will leave us with another year of a pathetic bench, too. If you could somehow paint a brighter future that didn't involve us spending on cap space on "safe" mediocre players, I love to see it. btw, as I just turned 49 and am feeling fine, I appreciate being called a young man!
