Interesting that they got rid of Jay Jensen. Long overdue imo. They probably should have jettisoned the entire medical staff.
I would dismiss this article as another "whatever" type piece by Canzano if it was not for the fact I was thinking the same thing a few weeks ago. The hard part is that there are a lot of really rich owners these days, so pampering the Blazers more than other teams will be harder to do now then before. But they need to try. At one time there were perks to being a Blazer. It needs to be again.
After the last couple of seasons? Replace the plane with a surplus Grayhound bus, driven by an alcoholic, wall-eyed, defrocked nun! Perks are for winners.
So is the team being cheap HCP? I would say with the practice facility upgrades, they are not. I am not there to observe whether more can be done with hiring trainers. I think ppaying for car detailing was part of SPAM that I would not ask ownership to do again.
isn't that how you get free agents in the first place? by spending more money then they other teams? all the negatives of Portland always show up around free agency time. it wouldn't hurt to have another positive. plus, not just for free agents but to upgrade the medical staff/looking into other ways to treat our players is also something that should happen.
If we cant hire some of the Phoenix Suns trainers away we should go to them and see who they would recommend.
And I was being a dick.....OF COURSE the way to land and keep quality players is to spend the most. I just don't think that concept deserves a whole story unto itself.
They will complain no matter what. They cried that the Blazers were doing the fans a disservice by downplaying the Miles/Cheeks fiasco, then were calling for them to trade for Iverson.
Canzano has said for years that Allen is the worst owner in sports. The biggest Blazer hater knows nothing about pampering.
