There was a lot of angst in Indianapolis when Bird stepped down and Morway was let go, and KP ascended to GM, but it has obviously worked.

The team got to their first ECF in 14 years.

Next up will likely be Rich Cho and Charlotte, while Paul continues to go through GMs. I like Olshey, but I think PA's stubborn nature, and Bert Kolde's jealousy, will again ruin a good thing.

If Rich Cho can guide Charlotte to the ECF's then you can just crown him the Greatest GM of All Time right there on the spot.

    Results...

Giving Hibbert that contract was widely panned, but without him, they aren't in the ECF.

What has Olshey, Cho, Buchanan, etc. done?

Well, Olshey did trade for Chris Paul. And he had as much to do with the drafting of Lillard as KP did re-signing Hibbert (since it's the owner who said "yes, I want to pay that much money".

After the NBA rejected a trade of Paul to the Lakers.

When did Olshey make a WCF as the Clipper GM? He even has two All-Stars on his team.

So it's Olshey's fault the NBA rejected the trade?

I'm not sure that crediting KP for making it to the ECF's is really a fair thing to do. It's not like he built that team.

And no matter what positive spin you want to place on him, he's still the the one who drafted Gred Oden.

Your anger at KP is palpable. Wouldn't PA have signed off on Oden, too? I mean, since the GM drafting Lillard doesn't count.

I have no anger at KP, I just find it odd how people don't let go of certain things.

KP is gone, I don't give a crap what he does now that he's not associated with the Blazers.

And yes, the drafting of Lillard shouldn't count anymore than signing of Hibbert should. it's not a single person who does one thing, it's a group.

Especially when it's not like the Pacers had to go out of their way to re-sign Hibbert since he was a RFA. The only reason they signed him was because their owner decided he was worth the financial risk.

Your posts in this thread say otherwise. I was just giving KP some props and giving Olshey an out when Paul Allen gets bored again.

Widely panned by whom exactly? Seems to me it was a no-brainer, and we all expected Indiana to match. I know you're trolling, but this was particularly weak.

you read into my posts what you want to read into them. You're giving him props for something he doesn't deserve. He didn't build that team.

KP did nothing special. It was Bird, Walsh, and Morway that did the heavy lifting.

KP has done a great job in Indy and I think is a good to great GM. There is bad blood between him and Allen and if you get into bad blood with the owner (anywhere), expect to be fired.

Without looking it up, I'm guessing Cho has put up one of the worst 2 year winning percentage for any GM. If you point to Indy's record to show KP is a good GM, then the same logic points to Cho being one of the worst GM in the NBA.

Allen should be criticized for hiring Cho, not firing him. He took some heat for hiring and firing a GM in a year, but at least he didn't keep Cho in hopes of proving he was a good hire.

So what? He's the GM of a team in the ECF without their only All-Star from last year.

What's wrong with giving KP some props?
