Could be in Oregon, or the region (or if you live out of the region, your state).

    Me?

I like Detroit Lake and Devils lake.

Used to camp at Detroit, and I like visiting Devils.

Whats yours? (I figure this is better than the recent influx of lame ass threads..well, this is less lame ass)

When I was a kid, my dad would take me and my brothers to camp at Lake Billy Chinook, so I have very fond memories of that one.

Foster Lake in Sweet Home is a nice close one to take a day trip.

Lake Powell in southern Utah is nice too, but that might have just been cause it was 110 degrees when I was there, so the water felt amazing.

Portland. BBQs, basketball games and those boat rentals were good times as a kid.

Backpacking is one of my very favorite things. For 6 summers I worked on a Biological research project for the California Dept. of Fish and Game in the High Sierras centered on the fish and amphibians of high mountain lakes. I've literally been to thousands of lakes in John Muir's magical range of light. My very favorite is Upper Buck Lake in Emigrant Wilderness which is adjacent to Yosemite on the North side.

I make the 13 mile hike most every summer. One time I took my neighbor along who had never even been car camping before. Along the way we passed several really pretty lakes that he lobbied to camp by. When we finally made it there, he thanked me profusely for not giving in to his earlier requests but then stated how hungry he was. "Whats for dinner?" he asked. I responded that I hadn't caught it yet. An hour later I had 4 fat trout to compliment the various sushi ingredients I'd packed.

Seems like there would be some parasite and mercury concerns with eating raw trout from freshwater.

while I have eaten raw trout just to try it out before (it's okay) I steam cooked those 4

backcountry sushi is a great treat IMO. You can use smoked salmon or those foil tuna packets as your fish too. I've some small containers that I put the soy sauce, rice vinegar & wasabi powder in & of course Nori packs flat. Besides fresh fish, the only thing that requires cooking is the sushi rice. Usually I make it the first night's meal and pack in some vegi's like avocado, onion & bean sprouts
