Olshey on draft: "I don’t know if there is a presumptive superstar at the top ... but fortunately we’re not picking up there."

    Joe Freeman ‏@BlazerFreeman 6m
Olshey: "I think the draft has really good depth. I think you are going to get quality players and I think it’s all based on ..." (cont)

Olshey cont: "... what your level of expectation is. But I think it’s a solid draft. I like where we are positioned."

W/ this 1st bunch of #BlazerWorkouts being several guys on the fence (late 2nd round), it makes sense for Olshey to bring up Idaho.

    Candace Buckner ‏@blazerbanter 6m
Olshey: "We’re not always looking at guys for the Blazers..."

    Candace Buckner ‏@blazerbanter 5m
"but we’re looking for guys that might ... go undrafted who would like to be part of our minor-league system." - Olshey on predraft workouts

Cody Zeller shooting the ball VERY well. 72% from NBA 3 point line in drills.

I like it to. Sounds like a wild card kind of draft where a handful of players have a chance to be impact players in the NBA, but who they are is any GM's guess. With the #10, Blazers have a chance at an impact player without a lot of cap space being spent on the gamble.

I said before, it sounds like the #1 kind of gets screwed. Yes they get the first chance to pick who they think that impact player will be, but they pay the most for that and with no presumptive superstar, maybe the price to pay for that first pick is too much.

I am thinking McCollum would go sooner. (Detroit) The key is Zeller. I want him to go high so Shabazz or McCollum is there at 10. These guys though may be right. (Except with our pick)

I'd be fine with Zeller dropping to us. Would fill the backup PF/C need. I think he is ready to play now, just didn't see him as a TOP pick.

Ideally, Shabazz or Len drops to us.

Zeller got abused in the Big 10, or whatever it's called now. Please no more soft perimeter bigs. Between Aldridge, Claver and Leonard, we are covered

Detroit and Minnesota seem like the most likely landing spots for McCollum and Shabazz.

So then basically using this mock http://www.draftexpress.com/
and substituting Zeller for Gobert, we should get a decent pick.

I don't particularly WANT Zeller... Not enough upside for me, but I think he'd be a nice asset to trade eventually.

It's funny that if you go way way back to the first page of this thread (last October) the two biggest
prizes in this draft were Shabazz and Zeller. Now it looks like they may be the consolation prize for us at 10.

Kind of the scary part about tanking for unknowns. I bet at the beginning of the season, Cleveland fans were thinking...tank this season, draft Shabazz, future championship backcourt. Now they might consider Otto Porter at #1.

Zeller regressed from his freshman year. His playing weight this past season was in the 240's according to the team trainer. It showed, his lift wasn't there and couldn't finish against athletic bigs like he did the year before.

The kid from North Texas was projected to go in the lotto this year but he's yet another PF who wants to play SF and his stock has dropped A LOT. Late first, maybe even early 2nd, is where I think he'll end up.

I never really got to see him play at North Texas, but I think we need to find a way to draft Tony Mitchell with one of our picks. The guy reminds me of Kenyon Martin.

Shabazz' dad is having a bad few months:

DRAFT, LAW, SHABAZZ MUHAMMAD | SHARE
The indictment states that Holmes and his partners obtained “mortgage loans by fraudulent means to buy houses,” from 2006 to 2009. The U.S. attorney’s office is seeking to recover $2.5 million from Holmes. Shabazz, 20, played one year at UCLA before declaring for the NBA draft. UCLA recruited him while he played for Bishop Gorman High School. According to the court documents, Holmes is being detained pending a detention hearing. Las Vegas Review Journal
