Can someone explain the "1,000 lashes" to me, and what that will actually entail? Is that literal, and if so, how do they administer it? Is it really a death sentence as maxiep describes? This one's new to me...

You need to keep in mind that Islam is largely shameless copy of the older Abrahamic religions. "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" If you were going to set up some crazy country ruled by a literal interpretation of the morals and ethics of the either testament it wouldn't be so dissimilar to SA.

Saudi Arabia is at the forefront of this awfulness. Men and women are accused of/executed for witchcraft.
I guess it goes without saying that these two women ran afoul of the master of the house (non-compliant) and were likely accused to ensure their silence/obliterate their credibility.
