So: how will you feel if it's Caldwell-Pope?

I also fall into the category of trusting Olshey.

If they draft a SG, makes sense to me because I think whoever Blazers get at 10 is no guarantee to start contributing at that position. If Blazers pick a SG who surprises, great, they could use a scorer. If he does not contribute, then the position is still going to be OK.

Picking a center in this draft leaves you with another project at center. Blazers already have that and can't gamble on another project without also needing to get a starting center. So then you have a starting center and two high draft pick project centers fighting for PT.

I'd feel better about that if
    a) We had Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Kawhi Leonard
    b) We were drafting him with a pick in the 40s

I don't follow men's college basketball so I rarely know much about the players. But a name like Kentavious? Go for it!

This is part of the reason why I'd be happy with KCP.

That being said, there are prospects where I'd really raise my eyebrows and assume he got it wrong until the prospect actually showed something (e.g. Gobert, Dieng)

No matter how much trust I have in Olshey (and I do for the record) he will never have a perfect track record

If teams knew that Danny Green would be as productive as he has been, he wouldn't have lasted to the 40s. Danny Green-level production from thus pick would be a win, IMO.

There is a difference in my opinion between hope and expectations. This team needs to take some chance (maybe Shabazz for example) and hope that one them "pulls a Lillard" (ohh I like that :) ) but the expectation should be that we get a very solid rotation player whether starter or bench.

Jury is still out on Olshey and drafting with me.

I thought he did great getting Lillard, but failed miserably drafting Leonard

If he believes KCP is the best available player to add to our team with the 10th pick, via either pick or trade then fine.

Our team needs so much talent that I find it hard to believe KCP is the single most talented player we can add to our roster via the 10th pick, but I won't be upset either way unless we draft MCW or one of the big white stiffs

You've yet to respond once to this question, who would you have picked over Leonard?

I have responded to that question several times.

    At the time I wanted

    Lamb
    Henson
    Harkless
    White
    Moultre
    PJIII
    T Jones
    Nicholson

    all more than Leonard

So at the present moment, would you take all those over Leonard? Since he is a miserable fail and all. LOL if you say yes to White.

    I think

    Lamb
    Henson
    Harkless
    Moultre
    Nicholson

will all be better pros long term than Leonard

The others I am not as sure about.

I think it is one year too early to have that conversation. We need to see what Leonard works on this summer. In mid-season if he looks the same as last year, then I would agree.

Henson is the one, in particular, that several people said at the time, and who looks to be exactly what we would have needed from that pick.

That said, I was on board with Leonard and still am.

If Leonard had showed any indication in college for playing an ounce of defense or an offensive post game, I might be able to be swayed. That wasn't the case, however.

His name is obscure enough that I can talk endlessly at the local pub about him and seem worldly.

He doesn't bring much that Wes doesn't already bring. Dave at B-Edge has a good post on this. I'm warming to the idea but what are you going to do with Wes?
