Could have had Barnes last year if they wanted. Idiots.

No, actually, the problem is that people believe this BS. You keep telling yourself over and over again that Nic only has one good game followed by a handful of bad games before he has another good game. But in fact it's just the opposite. Last year, with the wrist injury, he never went more than two games in a row in single digits. On the other hand, he went stretches of 7, 9, and 18 games in a row scoring in double digits.

A dude making 11 million scoring in double digits! Get him a special trophy!

Batum's contract is going to hold this team back.

It's easy to score in double digits if you don't give a shit about the team.

For some reason people here still like to treat Batum with kid gloves instead of the guy that's now making $11M per and needs to earn his contract.

    The excuses never stop.

Exactly! He isn't a development player any longer. He is paid to be a leader, scorer and defensive specialist. If he isn't doing those things, then he was a waste of money. I hope he understands this next season.

Way to overreact. People, specifically RoyToy I believe, have put forth the idea that Nic has strings of bad scoring games lightly peppered with good games - I was merely showing that the exact opposite is true. Take a look at his game log - the scoring is more than adequate and consistent for a #3/glue-guy. Seriously, 14/5/5 for your glue guy is terrific. His production is remarkably similar to Paul George's, and he's considered Indy's star.

Why are you laughing? 11 million for a spot shooting role player? He better be more than that....

Um, he DID earn that contract. Compares favorably to George, Granger, Gay, Gallinari, and Pierce, all of whom played on much better teams: http://www.basketball-reference.com...013&p5=piercpa01&y5=2013&p6=grangda01&y6=2012

    What's LMA's excuse?

Man, I don't know many teams who pay someone 11mill to average 14/5/5 and seriously hinder the teams future flexibility.

And it is seriously LAUGHABLE you compared Paul George to Nic Batum. Paul George is in his second year and average 17 4 and 8 on a playoff team and is one of the premier perimeter defenders in the league.

LMA is the only player, other than LBJ that had over 20 points and 8 rebounds.

You would think that being on a worse team would pad your stats. Saying Granger, Gay, Gallinari and Pierce played on better teams, only justifies they are better players. They were able to get similar stats.

Well, I should know better than to take your opinion seriously. But nobody ever expected Nic to be a leader.
And yeah - guys who make $11M (or more) are total studs that dominate the league, and are all leaders too:
    Humphries
    Kevin Martin
    Granger
    Iggy
    LMA
    Gay
    Bosh
    Boozer

He averaged 3 more points on 3 more shots with vastly better players around him. Wow! Color me impressed! The only thing George is significantly better than Nic at is dribbling. If Nic could dribble, and had the benefit of taking Paul's spot in IND he'd easily put up those numbers - heck, he'd probably put them up without improving his handles at all...3 more shots to get 3 more points?

All of whom actually got their contract before the new CBA, so they have inflated values.

And Paul George is making 3 million, Gallinari 4.

And Gay was offloaded because they realized how ridiculous the contract they gave him was. Paul Pierce making 15 mill at 35 is more a reflection of his overall career, and Granger when he signed his contract was averaging 25/5/2 and shooting 40% from 3 and getting to the line 6+ times a game. Pierce is a career 20+/6/4 guy, shooting 35+% from 3 and over 6 FTA per game.

So really, the only one you can compare is Rudy Gay, who I'd agree has a ridiculous contract.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Get over your 20 point wank fest - it's meaningless. With shots a vast number of players in the league could average 20ppg.
The Blazers problem is that LMA is averaging 20ppg - his scoring will only lead to the lotto. He should cut back to about 15 and focus on defense and rebounding - let the other players who are more efficient pick up more of the scoring load.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

Kevin Martin used to be a stud and earned his pay.

Iggy was the first option for the 76ers when he got his.

Gay was the first option and a +20 scorer when he got his.

Lamarcus was leading the team in both rebounds, blocks and points when he got his.

Boozer was the #1 option in Utah when he got his.

Bosh was the #1 option in Toronto and considered one of the best pfs of current players when he signed with Miami.

Granger is the #1 scoring option and perimeter defensive stopper on the best defensive team in the league.

What has batum led? All the names you provided earned the contracts before they got them. What batum earned was nothing. Look at his numbers the year before. Nothing warranted 11 mil

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

George is on a rookie contract, so it's disingenuous to compare salaries - he'll probably end up making more than Nic. Gallinari got a very similar deal to Nic.
Compare the production - Nic is right there with all those guys.
