Not quite the analogy I was making, but it does concern me, too. He seems to have a slow trigger, too.

Porter wasn't a legit 6'3". There were no official combine measurements back in those days.

I can understand not liking a pick, but when posters blatantly fudge the truth on them, it gets old.

Now we'll deal with another season of every time CJ misses a shot, it was a bad pick.

You know that for a fact? Just because there wasn't combine then doesn't mean it's not legit. I completely agree with your second sentence and it seems you are doing just that in regard to Porter.

6'3" 200 lbs, he's about the size of Eric Gordon.

Simmons raved about him afterwards - said he'd hire him for Grantland on the spot.

Lillard's supposedly 6-3 but next to Kenny and Barkley he looked like a sardine. First thing The Jet said was how Lillard was smaller than he expected.

McCollum's probably the same, but he plays SG.

Porter seems a good comparison. Similar size and build, well rounded, capable of playing the one and two. They have similar shooting strokes, too. I wonder if he can play in the block like Porter and Miller?

You can nitpick on any player in this draft, Bennett on down. Overall, I think most everyone likes this pick. I wonder if Portland knew they would land Crabbe later in the draft, if they would have opted for Adams instead?

The mock draft on NBA TV had Blazers pick McCollum and said he'd be a steal if still available at #10.

Best comparison for McCollum: Jason Terry?

Watching interviews with CJ... He's something else. Love his style.

I know it seems like a no brainer BPA choice but do you think Lillard demanded/asked for CJ?

Apparently it's because Olshey and his agent grew up together.

No, but you should set up a Twitter account, have 1998 HTML coded on a "blog", and this board would freak out over Lillard calling the shots for the Blazers!!

It strikes me that McCollum is a bit of a media star. So is Lillard. Their agents should be able to put together some type of ad campaign featuring the both of them together. As a Blazers fan, that would feel a bit odd. Since the NBA is all about marketing, it can't hurt our success either, if you catch my drift.

Joe Dumars? Granted he was before my time but their games sound similar -- High IQ, knack for scoring and outside shooting.

Identical size as well at the SG position: 6'3" 197 lbs.

Can any of you grizzled vets tell me about Dumars? You can only get so much from scouting reports.

Dumars was an elite defender. McCollum isn't.

If McCollum comes even close to Dumars, then the Blazers should be thrilled. I just don't see it, though. Dumars was very, very good 2-guard who had to both score a bit and defend a lot.
