    1. He's used to it.
    2. He knew he would be when we signed him last time, and still wanted to come.
    3. If you read the post, I took that as a sign that Aldridge would be gone. So he wouldn't be coming off the bench.
    4. Even if Aldridge was here, he might start. He's about the same as JJ Hickson last year...

Anyone for David West? Just to follow a tradition of making Indy overpay for its players? (Or, in Hibbert's case, pay them their true worth.)

All I can say is I'm just waiting to hear where Olshey is tomorrow night at 9 Pacific. I was chilling at the beach house last year, and I get on the Internet before bed, and I see we've made a play for Hibbert. Sure, in the end, we didn't get our guy. But I can't remember a time where we went out guns blazing for a FA on July 1. And to get the guy to agree to terms with us was pretty cool, even if we lost him.

Lost in that is that Presti traded his All-Star, face-of-the-franchise with two years left on his contract for a lotto pick, expiring contract (Wally World) and young starter on a rookie contract (Delonte West)...giving himself two top-5 picks in the 2007 draft. :devilwink:

Honestly, I think almost every team should consider going into tank mode. Try to build a team that will be good in about 5 years when LeBron begins to decline. Trying to contend right now is a waste of time and energy.

That's just pathetic. Why follow sports if you have no competitive backbone?

It's not like the Heat are dominating. They should have lost game 6 and the series. If Pop wasn't a moron who sat Duncan for the final two possessions, they would have lost.

If we're replacing Aldridge, I would rather go Al Jeff. He's a better scoring option in the post. The guy put up a 21 PER last year.

Game 7 against the spurs? Should have been over at game 6. Hardly "unbeatable". Also; Indiana really have them a run for their money too.

Miami has a glaring hole at center; which is why teams with bulk can punish them.

We won a whole bunch of games the first half of the season even though it was clear we were not a playoff team. Overachieving the first half of the season likely cost us Oladipo or McClemore. Either tank or don't tank. If we are going to keep LaMarcus, clearly it's a no tank. If we are going to trade him, do it before the season so he doesn't cost us five slots in the draft.

That's how I feel also. Again, only if Aldridge really asked to be traded.

Rumors: Mavs talking with Celtics about Rajon Rondo? http://po.st/gOAydV

The Celtics are like, "Fuck it." ... and then they will get bumped to the 4th pick in the draft like with the '07 draft. Which is still a good pick but they arent messing around

I bet it wont the the Celtics 10 years to build a team that can contend though.

Ainge isn't the most brilliant GM, but hes aggressive and both plans and executes well.

Re: 2013 Official NBA Off-season Movement & Rumors

I would hope not. They can attract bigger name free agents in their market and they have proven they arent afraid to make a big trade to get where they want to go. They do whatever it takes to get to a championship.

Sometimes I feel like the idea of building a long term contender doesnt have the likelihood of winning a title as making the big moves to get a roster that year or next that can go deep. Do you value a REALLY good shot at winning one title or a "good" chance to contend for 5-10 years? What kind of gambler are you and how patient are you in relation to what you are willing to spend.

Something tells me if we had won a title with our expensive star teams in the early 2000's then PA would be a lot more open to going for broke every few years like he did then. Instead one complete meltdown in the 4th quarter and bad reffing has scarred him from every going that route again.

Getting strong indications that Hakeem Olajuwon, last seen at Thursday's draft, will be joining Rockets' delegation to woo Dwight Howard

    Houston is not messing around

I can't recall a big name FA ever joining the Celtics. Hell Jason Terry choosing them is the biggest name they'v attracted via FA in years.

Probably true I havent gone back to look but I still feel like their history and market is better than Portland in the eyes of most players which is why my response was that it wont take them as long to build a contender
