    Don't ask me how.

Sam Amick tweeted that the Bulls are one of 3-4 teams expected to go after him.

He is certain to get more than $5M offers.

Seems the only thing that makes sense is some sort of S&T. But Dallas wants to shed salary to go after DHoward and maybe Chris Paul...

I've read something that Paul will likely re-sign.

The only thing I can think of is that Dallas has soured on him and might consider a S&T with our TPE as the centerpiece of the deal. I'm not even sure if we can do that because of our team salary.

Otherwise I'm with Denny....I see no way he makes it over here.

Well, I think it makes sense for the Bulls if they could pull it off.

He immediately becomes second on the team in terms of star power.

As much as I really did like nate, I like Mayo for us until he is too old to play anymore :)

I read that that Mayo and Rose are buds as well.

We cant afford him straight up. But he would cover a need.

I wonder just where Mayo's stock is right now. His season numbers look good, but the truth is that he was uber-productive (like easy all star productive) for the first month or so and then became very mediocre (like MLE at best mediocre). It may have been a coincidence, but his drop off seemed to occur when Nowitzki returned in mid December. Some teams may infer that Mayo is ideally suited to being the #1 scoring option. The problem there is that few teams would turn over the reins to him like that.

OJ Mayo looks like he needs to be in a Jason Terry type situation in order to thrive. I don't know if he'd be willing to accept that, but he doesn't seem to have a true position.

So he does need to be a #1 option on offense....he just needs to be doing that against the opposing team's bench.

My sense is that Mayo became the focus of defenses and then his FGA/game went seriously down. I mean, the guy played ~36 and took only 12.7 FGA/game - the lowest of his career.

You might look at his season as one where he did step up really well to the 1st option role and did very well at it. Then when asked to play more of a team player role, he did that too. The guy took 4 out of 5 of his shots from 3pt and made over 40%, and had his FGA % 2nd highest for his career.

When Nowitzki returned in December, it was understandable that Mayo's shot attempts would decrease (they did, from 14.6 FGA/gm for the first 27 games to 11.5 FGA/gm for the last 55 games of the season). What surprises is that greater selectivity didn't lead to increased accuracy, but instead just the opposite.

    Before Nowitzki's return (27 games): 47.2% overall and 49.3% from 3

    After Nowitzki's return (55 games): 43.5% overall and 34.9% from 3

I didn't catch many Mavs games so I can't explain it. I just find it pretty surprising and wonder how his kinda bi-polar season will affect his market value.

My thinking is that Dirk had the ball much of the time and Mayo's opportunities were much more toward the end of the clock.

    That's a ~$12M sized package.

I really don't see why Dallas would do this. They want cap space to go after DHoward. This cuts $12M from their available space. Maybe if they strike out?
