Last year he was young, a rookie, fairly new to being a Center and he had some ups an certainly some dows too. Well, a year to adjust, play, learn, vet mor comfortable, will he be able to make the jump to being a starting center in this league.

    Last year per 36 stats
    pp36 - 11.3
    Orb36 - 2.4
    Drb36 - 5.2
    Ast36 - 1.0
    Blk36 - 1.1
    TO36 - 1.5

    FG% .545
    FT% .81
    PER 12.1
    TS% .596

    more stats

I expected a little better from him last year, but I still have high hopes. His athleticism is awesome, his motor is very good, his size and weight are good, and sounds like a hard worker. Hopefully he is just a little slow at learning, but still completely capable of putting it all together.

I just want the other team to realize he's on the court next year and not be a revolving door on defense

That said, not expecting much. He's soft.

When drafted, they said, "He's emotional. In college games his face would turn red. He looked like tears were coming out."

Last season, I noticed he is irritated by contact lenses. Has nothing to do with emotion. Solve that and he can focus on the game.

First off, I'm just hoping he's still here after next season. It looks like Olshey has a lot of balls in the air and a lot of different options in terms of C acquisitions. If we can get Pachulia or Kaman for cheap, obviously Leonard is still in the plans. But if we could get Asik in a package including Leonard? Have to pull the trigger.

That said, I have VERY high hopes for Leonard. Your PER/36 show that he had damn solid C numbers despite looking, for the most part, completely awful. That says something. I still think his upside comp is Tyson Chandler.

Stop laughing, I know Chandler is a DPOY and All-Star level player. But think about it. Almost identical size and athleticism. And look at Chandler's career numbers arc. Chandler developed into a stud relatively late in his prime, and his strengths/weaknesses profile line up well with Leonard's if Leonard is able to reach his potential as Chandler finally did. He doesn't block, steal, or rebound at an elite rate. Not much offensive game to speak of but one of the game's best finishers.

Fingers crossed Leonard starts putting together the mental aspect of the game and we don't give up on him too early.

Didn't want to start a new thread, but here's a picture Leonard just posted of him looking ridiculously jacked:

Doesn't matter how jacked he is if he is still a soft pussy in the paint.

I hope he gets a fucking clue and learns how to play the position.

He averaged 5 fouls per 36 minutes. He has absolutely no problem with banging around people. The game just happens too quickly for him to keep up. All of his problems are mental.

He's really big, athletic and he tries hard. You don't get a body like that being lazy. Reminds me of Travis Outlaw--if he could just put all the tools together he could be special. Travis obviously didn't.

I don't know if this is the year he turns the corner, but I'm hopeful. I'm kind of hoping they get him to focus on a few go-to moves (like Travis Outlaw used to with his dribble pullup jumper) and he can build from there (unlike Outlaw).

I just wish his lower body was bigger. He's definitely strong, but you need strong legs and a big ass to throw your weight around under the hoop. I still have high hopes for him though. He's a freak athletically.

I have been a fan of Leonard since the draft and have high hopes for him. Like most young, raw centers he is gonna take a few years to develop.

I really hope he gets that chance and the playing time to develop....or show he wont.

Posts like this crack me up.

It's like the term project goes right over your head. He's got skills that 95% of 7 footer can't be taught. He just needs experience. It's so funny to me when people write off 7 footers after a season. It shows a lack of understanding of how it takes time for players to develop. Especially bigs.

Meyers will be fine. Just needs time. I expect him to look like a No. 11 pick this season, and start to bloom the year after.

Did I write him off? Nope. I don't see anywhere where it says he has no chance, he can't or won't, learn the position. FACT: If he still gets bullied in the paint and is soft in the paint, it doesn't matter how strong he is, if he doesn't like contact. FACT: He needs to get a fucking clue and learn how to play the center position. Rebound, defend, PAINT PAINT PAINT.

Are either of those saying he can't or won't do it? Nope.

Your reading comprehension is the equivalent of a fetus.

I'd gladly call him a pussy to his face. Whats he gonna do? Beat me up? Boo fucking hoo. And the fact that Stotts and Olshey pretty much said that he needs to learn the position, justifies my answer in stating that he needs to learn how to play.

Remember this is the guy that got WORKED in summer league by Motieujesahdljkfhadskljhg and Royce fucking White who can't go in a god damn airplane.

My hopes for his next season seem pretty logical: He needs to man up and be physical, needs to defend the paint, and learn to play the position.

I don't see how that is giving up on him.

If I wanted to trade him for cap space or a second rounder, that'd be giving up on him.

Or if I said the thins MM says and says he has no chance.
