With the signings, I can't see how we can retain him. Is that still possible? And if we can't retain him; where do you think he goes?
Oh and retaining him doesn't mean keeping him. I was just thinking about using him in a sign and trade.
HOU still a posibility, or BOS, DAL, LAL. He isn't going to get the 8.5 MIL or more that people kept saying he would though. Still will be a nice signing for someone if they get him as first big off the bench.
To be honest, Houston makes the most sense for him. I would say lakers second, but they don't have the space to sign him anything more than min mle.
Are there any teams with Cap space that has a back up PG we could do a sign and trade with JJ? Is that still a possibility? We could save them 3-4 million......
Do the Blazers still have any cap room? They could sign JJ to 120% of last year's salary, if they don't renounce him. You'd need $4.8M in cap space for hat. His cap hod, unsigned, was probably a lot higher...
I have to say even I am surprised that Hickson, a 12/10 player from last year, is going to be lucky to get the MLE. Looks like Olshey knew what he was doing by not offering him the Q.O.
JJ said last year that he would like the chance to start. Can't say I blame him for it, but I don't think it's realistic. That said, he has a bunch of positive quotes regarding his time in Portland in this article. http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/i..._on_the_wall_jj_hickson_and_the_trail_bl.html
Translation: I'm not getting the offers my agent said I would so now I have to start saying the right things.
It's the opposite. Olshey caused Hickson's problem by waiting to renounce him until teams ran low on money. Had Hickson been available earlier, he'd have gotten more.
This is the best part of free agency, when guys like Hickson get picked up on the cheap, and teams that gave guys like Zaza Pachulia huge deals feel stupid... If I were a team like Dallas, with a lot of roster holes and $8 mill in cap left, I'd just wait until no other team has cap room and have a feeding frenzy on all the unsigned FA's for 1-year deals. I also wonder where Bynum's going to go... does anyone have any legitimate cap to pick him up after the Mavericks' Harris signing?
Has anyone floated the idea of Bynum making a return to Los Angeles, or have those bridges been burned? The Lakers have a ton of expiring contracts... what if they just turned back the clocks and brought back Bynum and Phil Jackson? All of a sudden, things would be looking a lot brighter in Los Angeles.
