Nice post/scoop. Surprised I haven't seen Quick/Freeman/Haynes post this yet. Anything else "official"?
How does a player know whether Olshey pulled a bait & switch, and sneaked a lower number into the contract? The contract contains several numbers, and some players aren't numbers whizzes. The agent can't be present, because he has many clients in many cities signing simultaneously.
Since that stumped the board, I'll guess. After the agreement (several days ago), the numbers (which fill in blanks in a standard NBA contract, common to all teams) are transmitted to the league office, which sends them to the agent for confirmation. Days later, tonight, the physical contract is signed, a copy is sent to the league office, which transmits a copy to the agent. Both league and agent compare the agreement numbers to the physical contract numbers, preventing a bait & switch. If the two versions disagree, the earlier/agreement numbers trump. This procedure is probably in the CBA.
The HCP just got home from work son! Alarm set....... have to be in Seattle for work in 8 hours. Just don't like seeing rookies break the rules and Denny does nothing!!!
Besides, I think the rule book got rewritten yesterday when someone legally changed their screen name to A2M.
"Posting Permissions You may start new threads" it's all right there in black (well, red) and white. think of me as a veteran free agent who just signed with the team here.
