He didn't dominate like Lillard, though. I still like what I saw from CJ, though. He won't be the MVP of Summer League, but he at least can get his shot off in summer league, and can drive and dunk if needed.

Wow, you sure know a lot. Lillards first SL game he scored 3 points more on worse shooting, with identical assists.

I'm not saying McCollum will be as good as Lillard, odds say he won't, but at this point in time you don't have enough information to make educated conclusions. And as far as after one game, Lillard and McCollum both dominated fairly equally.

I think he dominated the first half.... but the team was just so lousy. Phoenix doubled him and he had a hard time getting open after that.

Is Lillard actually on the roster and able to play? Not saying he would or should, but can he?

It's been so rare that a Blazer has gotten any national attention that I now feel totally spoiled :)

The thing that impresses me most about McCollum can be summed up in one word: composure. Yes, I know it's summer league, and I know it's just one game, but it's evident in the way he talks and the way he plays. Roy had it, Lillard has it, and by all indications, McCollum appears to have it.

For most rookies, the transition to the NBA is difficult. They seem to be awed by the whole experience, the game seems to move so much faster, they are easily rattled. But for players like Brandon Roy, Damian Lillard, and hopefully C.J. McCollum, the game just seems to move at a slower pace. They don't panic, they don't freak out, they just calmly go about their business with a natural, relaxed sense of poise that is much more common in more experienced players.

Again, I know this is just one game, and it's just summer league, but remember this was McCollum's first game since he broke his foot back in early January. He stepped right in and played smart and effectively. And while it may be summer league, there are a lot of players on both rosters that will be part of the regular rotation for their teams during the regular season. The five guys we started, plus Dorrell Wright and Earl Watson will be our bench. And a couple of the guys Phoenix started will likely start for them during the regular season.

But, among this lot of second and third year players, the rookie McCollum clearly stood out as the most composed, most poised player on the court.

and you know the one thing in common between Brandon, Damian and CJ? all three went to college all four years and earned their degrees prior to being drafted.

Bingo! Amazing what happens when you draft basketball players instead of "projects".
