There's a five-year old boy at my son's foreign language camp who identifies more with being female. He wears pink and lavender clothes, he has painted fingernails and toenails, wears sparkly shoes and plays house. The kids are cool with it and I haven't heard a peep from any of the parents. He is who he is, and he's comfortable. I wonder how he would feel if he were forced to conform to activities and dress that was more "boy-like".

I tend to think it's more nature than nurture, and I think it's really nice his parents have let him explore who he is. Might he be a bit young? Probably. However, they're letting him find his own way.

This is good to see the freedom. Just don't push kids too much one way or the other on this subject.

Maxie: I think it's a spectrum on nature vs nurture. Where some people have a strong genetic influence and some have less.
