A different thread was closed where I brought up how pathetic and weak the Stanford football fanbase is, but I want to keep talking about it.

Loudest, most packed stadium I've been in: Autzen
Loudest, most electric atmosphere I've been in: Civil War

Quietest, most timid stadium and fans: Stanford

The "Big Game" between Cal and Stanford is such a weak rivalry, it's a little embarrassing to be a part of.

    Discuss.

Well what did you expect from a bunch of rich people? It's like comparing the people in the 300 level of the Rose Garden to the people in the 100 lower bowl.

havent been part of a civil war. But 2 years ago comeback at Autzen vs USC (that fell short) is the most electric I've ever seen Autzen personally. Had 2 Ohio State fans behind us, decent fellows (They were writing a book called Highway 2 Gameday where they were hitchiking to the weeks biggest games in College that year).. chatted it up with them afterwards. before the game I remember them saying there is no way a place so small as Autzen can get as loud as its reputation. After the game they automatically put it in top 3 and were debating putting it on top.

You'd think all these "rich people" could afford to make it to the game. But we can't even get the stadium half full.

You hit on why I hate being in parts of the lower bowl. When i go to a game i want to stand up and cheer. Ill be verbal and yell a lot and iv gotten so many "dirty" looks from people around me in parts of the 100 level it, especially if I'm behind our bench, that I just prefer 200/300 level if I'm only going with one or two people.

You think it's because they can't afford to go?

Exactly. Give me the cheap seats. That's where the real fans are.

Are the tickets to a Stanford Trees game so much more expensive than a Ducks game?

Wasn't Stanford talking about taking some seats out of their stadium?

Maybe it's a comfort thing, but honestly, do you think most of the fans at the UofO games are UofO alumnus? NO WAY! Example HCP. He's a huge Ducks honk and he went to some Community College I forget. I have a HS friend that is the same way, he went to SOU, but is a big ducks fan and refers to the team as "we" instead of "them." I think it's also because there are only three big teams in the state. California knows how to party, and they have a lot of sports teams to choose from.

You're the one who asked why the fans suck at Stanford games. I told you why. Make sarcastic comments as much as you like, doesn't change the fact that your fanbase is filled with spoiled rich kids.

Useless fact: The tree is only a band mascot, not the Stanford mascot. That would be the color Cardinal.

BB30, correct me if i'm wrong please.

I attribute this to the fact that we don't have an NFL team, so the Ducks are the closest thing to an NFL team many of us have. Stanford and Cal are just a short hop from the Niners and Raiders.

But it's more fun to call them the trees.

I went to Catiln Gabel high school and our symbol was also a tree, but our mascot was technically the eagle. But we called ourselves the trees and the opposition also would mockingly call us the trees. One of the schools we played were the lumberjacks, that was always fun.

They tore down the old stadium that held about 85k and rebuilt the new one that holds about 50k. It was pretty comical with the older stadium when there were about 2000 people in the 85k capacity stadium.
