Their five starters have all been All Stars. What was the last team that could say that? The Rasheed Pistons started four All Stars one year. How many games will these Nets win? Can they beat the Heat? Or are Pierce and Garnett's games going to drop off too much? Thoughts?
I think the Nets will end up being a mess. Too many vets imo, going to see a lot of injuries. Plus Jason Kidd as HC just wont command the respect of his team. They will end up as the 2-3 seed and get beat by the Heat or the Pacers in the 2nd round.
They'll probably get a top 4 seed in the East, but I don't think they've got enough to get past the Heat, the Bulls (with a healthy Rose) or the Pacers. Lotta old farts on that team.
I think you people are underestimating them a little. I think they have a dam good shot at winning it all. I see them top 3 and definitely reaching the ecf. Miami is the only team that has a shot at beating them.
I think they will underperform. They won't be terrible, just not dominant. They will be hit with injuries, probably one or two severe. They are not an ideal blend of talents. Joe Johnson and Pierce are the same player. They have way too many players who best help their teams by shooting the ball. Not nearly enough blue-collar role players. I think a lot of the stars on the team will try to play team ball and do the little things. But trying to set some hard screens here and there and making the extra pass here and there goes against all their recent time in the NBA. It rarely works out well.
I don't have high hopes for that team. In 2008 that would have been a ridiculous team, but in 2013 it's an injury list waiting to happen.
The Lakers from last season... Nash, Bryant, MWP, Gasol, and Howard... bringing a sixth former All-Star off the bench, in Jamison. Hell, the Knicks didn't start five former All-Stars last year, but they had six on the roster (Anthony, Stoudemire, Kidd, Wallace, Martin, Chandler).
I don't think Artest has ever been an All-Star. I also don't remember Camby ever making an All-Star team either.
Artest was an All-Star in 2004 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_NBA_All-Star_Game You're right about Camby though... that one surprises me with the lack of good centers in the 2000's, but I guess he was always too hurt. Either way, that still makes six former All-Stars from the Knicks last season. My point is that the key word, former, really doesn't say jack about any of those teams' current rosters.
Hard to believe they ever let Artest in an All-Star game.... I agree though. The Blazers had a bunch of former All-Stars and lottery picks in the early 2000s.... didn't get them jack shit.
I think they'll have some rough patches but if they stay healthy they'll definitely make the EC finals.
All the nets former all stars still play at an elite level. That's the difference with the old timers on the Lakers and knicks, most of those old guys fell off a cliff. Age could catch up to pierce and Garnett, but that remains to be seen. I think they end up a top 4 seed in the east and are the favorites to knock off Miami.
dont sleep on KG bringing that team together, and that team is going to command a lot of respect from the refs
I think they'll be a better playoff team than regular season team. I have them as title contenders, right below MIA.
