We haven't but that's not saying that we can't. You are using an argument that cannot be refuted because of many variables.

And yes 8 mil is hardly enough to land a tier 1 or 2 free agent back then. Players in 09 were getting, on average 9+ mil for 3rd tier players.

The other factor is last season; there was one free agent that we wanted. We offered max and he accepted. And like I said, if Indiana didn't match; that would be the last one.

12 mil this summer is hardly enough to get a tier 1. Fuck igs got 12 mil and he's a tier 3!

I don't know where you are getting at, but I completely disagree that we can't land a tier 1 or 2 free agent.

Is there a PG in 2009, our need, that signed with someone else for 8 mil that turned us down?

What would have happened if Oden hadn't been hurt?

What would have happened if Bowie hadn't been hurt

What would have happened if the Japanese had developed the atom bomb first?

The answer of course is that it doesn't matter because those things didn't happen

Mags.....When was the last time a tier 1 or 2 free agent came to Portland

What the fuck does that have to do with it? Just answer the question MM. What would happen if Indiana didn't match?

You are correct, we haven't signed a top teir FA. But answer our question, who could we have? That fit out need and we had the money.

Miller wasn't our 1st choice. He wasn't even our 3rd or 4th choice. Word also came out after the fact that KP and Nate were torn on signing him.

Thank God we didn't get our first choice. Turk would have been toxic!

I don't know that they "used us"...they got the deal they wanted. Because they happened to be RFA, their original team matched. Millsap signed with us with the intention of playing for Portland for 4 years. Just because Utah matched doesn't mean we didn't "sign" him. Hibbert did the same thing. He accepted our offer of a 4 year max, and would've played 4 years for us. But because Indy said they'd match, he played for them.

We didn't have enough to go after Howard or Paul or Jefferson or many of the other "Tier Ones and Twos."

Mm's concept is flawed. How many tier 1 or 2 free agents signed with sas, Boston, Dallas, and Detroit?

I find it so fascinating that some of you want to argue, just to argue. Calling me cranky and such, when all i said was top tier free agents won't come here. They haven't in 43 years, but I'm wrong.....whatever, I forgot not to argue

It would have been a horrible signing, but that proves my point a bit. he was a top tier free agent that year that didn't sign with us

Your argument is seriously flawed though.

No he wasn't! He was a tier 3-4 player. Statistically he wasn't even middle of the pack in scoring, fg% and rebounding.

My argument is simply this. No top tier free agents would sign with Portland.

My reasoning is because none ever has.

    How is that flawed?

I don't care about Boston, Dallas, SA or anyone else. Talking specifically about Portland
