That was number floated by Boras earlier in the year when he was canos agent and repeated today on francessa's show. Haven't heard anything from cano camp indicating anything lower so asuming still in that range.
No matter how desperate we are, and we are desperate, That would be 10 years at 25,000,000 most likely. I'm sorry trade him to Toronto where the taxes eat him up, send him to Seatle for you know who, trade him to Japan, but don't sign him for that kind of money
Go ahead and offer him the ten years at $250 million but insist that the Yankees have an opt out option after seven years. The player of course would never accept that deal because they want to still be paid ridiculously in their declining years. There's absolutely no way you can hand a guy on the other side of 30 a huge money ten year deal. I wouldn't go beyond seven years.
Heard that 200 mil figure mentioned on MLB yesterday when they were discussing the Pedroia Deal. The opinion was that Cano would test the market with LA as a potential landing place. If the Yankees were dumb enough to give him 200 mil I'm afraid that my current 58 years of fandom would go up in smoke.
The Yankees are under enough shit that they can't dig out from under without adding more on top of it.
I think the "official" retirement age is 65. Retire to whatever you like, thats the point of retirement.
...no thank you...no retirement for me...I have to have a reason to get out of bed in the morning...and I'm not 65, not that it's relevant in the first place.
