Wow I can't believe he passed a law that even gay tourists or people supporting gays can be arrested?! What do they do with them after arrest?

Is it "being Gay" to boycott the Olympics because the Russian follow the teachings of their church?

I realize that knowing what one is talking about is harder than just talking but I would suggest MarAzul actually read the items referenced, if he is capable of reading comprehension.
    Here is the law, capsulized:
Anyone speaking in support of civil rights for LGBT people get 10 years imprisonment.
Anyone speaking against this law is imprisoned.
Anyone who is gay is imprisoned.
Gay people are attacked in the streets while police stand by and/or help the assailants.
No child can be adopted by citizens of any country that allows marriage equality, even if they are a straight couple.
Gay people lose their own children.

Russia has no official state religion.
KS, what did I miss that maxie said?

Well, then the entire Olympic committee should cancel the Olympics or move it, because I would guess a large portion of the athletes could be arrested.

There is debate over Olympic boycott. It's unlikely the games will be moved; some feel athletes should participate and on the medal stand take a public position. Like in 1968. It's a tough call because for many athletes this will be their only Olympics, they trained their whole lives for it, and they are not responsible for the hate law.

My dear Lady, There is no Church of the United States and probably will not be in the near future.
However, there has been a Russian Orthodox Church for about 900 years. No it is not run by the state, they have an Archbishop and over 80 percent of the Russian people follow this Church.
Do you know what this Churches position on Gay Marriage is? Do you expect Putin to tell the people to ignore the Church? Didn't they throw out the last fellow that told them to ignore the Church? Well that was in the days of the USSR, but the Church has returned, perhaps you didn't know. Perhaps boycotting the games is a wise decision in your case.

I love it when "christians" parrot the views of radical Islam.

Anybody who can't grasp the difference between "living your faith" and "forcing your faith on others" isn't worth trying to reason with.

Of Course not, they are just a noisy minority. If the Russian did indeed pass these laws, most of them would be wise to boycott the games, don't you agree?
But I doubt that will cause Putin and gang to go against the Russian church.

Actually Islam pick up the same teachings from the Christians. They came along about 600 years later and consider Jesus a prophet you know but that is hardly radical.

Marazul, some of the American athletes will be arrested if they go. Think about if Russia said Blacks would be arrested, and anyone who trained blacks. Should just the white Americans go and compete and leave he Blacks in the states? No, we are all American. Regardless if its religious, fascist, communist or what, if some Americans who qualify can't compete without being arrested or being Black, that would be atrocious. Well, some americans are being discriminated against. Screw that, we are all American and we should stand together and either move the games or boycott.

As much as I don't like it, that's each countries right. They can make their own laws. But when those laws infringe on our citizens we must do what we can to stop it. So, our athletes can't if they are gay, America must stick together and say fuck that, either we all compete or none of us do.

Truth time. I always had that typical male fantasy of being with two women at once. Then, I had been dating this woman for almost two years and I was in love. She came home and asked if I wanted to have a three way with another woman we were friends with, a hottie too. Up until that moment I was certain that was what I wanted. But when it actually happened I got so incredibly jealous I was seeing red. I realized then, I am not built for anything other than a very average one woman and one man relationship. I'm happy for everyone to choose what works for them, but for me, I just want one woman to love and fuck silly. That's just me.

Likely not, but Russia does need to say that no athletes will be arrested for being gay. If not, then I think the Boycott needs to happen. I can't see Putin not assuring that gay athletes will be permitted to compete in safety. If not, it's just like going to compete without Black Americans.
