I interpret her statement as just that "there are a lot of gay people who are homeless." Nothing more.
I know. I was being an ass about it. I understand more than most about posting the same damn thing over and over (assclown, crawchuck, etc) but does every post, in every thread have to be about the gay and lesbian community? I am an asshole, it's what I do, and won't sleep until I am the number one person on ignore or Denny finally gets tired enough to ban me
Me too. Kinda. Mostly, just teasing a little. I hope we've evolved enough to have a sense of humor about this particular subject (lgbt, not homelessness). I guess we'll see.
The problem is that Portland has gone too far to accommodate these street kids - to the point they're actually coming here from elsewhere. KGW interviewed some last week - one was from Seattle, another from Kansas, and the third from Texas. GO HOME!
To me, there are street kids and then there are the true homeless (alcoholics, people with mental issues or physical disabilities, others with very little hope) Assholes can come from each group, but I find it's the street kids that are more the assholes. Although you never know what you are going to get from the mentally ill. Terrance Jones kicking a homeless person laying down (if that is what happened) says a lot more about Terrance Jones than it does about homeless people.
I keep hearing about "aggressive panhandling". I've been approached multiple times by panhandlers in Berkeley, Oakland, San Francisco - I never felt threatened. Annoyed, maybe, sometimes they clearly were not all there, but I did not fear for my safety. I may be wrong, at least in some cases, but I do wonder if the aggression is in the mind of the beholder?
Beacuse we care. And just what the hell are YOU doing about it aside from posting on a message board? OK, Why? Mostly, they're losers. They had choices in life to make and this is the life they chose. Help is daily available and most never take it. Agreed. Only 99.9% are.
