or lack of options, as the lesbian case may be? ;]

I think it's just like people who are into BDSM or other kinky stuff. Just looking at a person you might be able to tell. But there is probably a lot more people whom you would not be able to guess.

I just look like a geek. I work in a geeky place so I fit in.

When I dress up, like to go to San Francisco Ballet, I look like a dressed up geek.

When I go to the pride parade in rainbows, I look like a lesbian geek.

That only works if HCP decides to become a Senator.

We really should do something about this. Can you bring up the "wear the uniform" for a vote at the next LGBT convention?

    Thanks in advance.

Uruguay began same sex marriages yesterday.

Has anyone noticed, the countries with marriage equality are all nice stable places, without terror threats, extreme poverty, civil war? Place where people would want to live? Canada, Holland, Uruguay, the Scandinavian countries, Britain, France, et al, South Africa has its problems but compared to Sudan or Pakistan, where would you prefer to live? Cause or effect?

I don't think its a cause, but a society that is open and interested in honoring freedom and rights to ALL, is typically going to be a much better place to live.

I'm all for being yourself, being gay, whatever. I'm cool with it. I have lots of family and friends that are gay. It's a choice, it's not a choice, whatever, I don't really care. We are who we are, and you either accept people as they are, or you don't (and if you don't, well, people probably accept you for being a prick).

I will say I'm tired of people shitting on religion like the religions need to be fixed. I'm Catholic, but I am far from being a bible-thumper. I rarely go to church. (I also should say I believe in religions being more open and accepting and not living off some book written how many years ago). That being said, religion is religion. They have the right to have their own sets of beliefs. Gay people trying to fix or change religion: I'm all for trying to be proactive and advocate for change. But forcing the change is ridiculous. Complaining about religion is ridiculous. Going to court over it is ridiculous (how about some separation of church and state, here?). It's religion. If you don't like it, don't be a part of it. Find a religion/church/something else that aligns with your core values and beliefs.

If a church doesn't want to acknowledge the marriage of a same-sex couple, fuck 'em. I was married by a Catholic Priest in a Catholic Church; in the eyes of my church, we are married. But my first wedding....... my Vegas wedding...... that was where I made the lifetime commitment to my wife, our families, etc. As long as my wife and I, as well as the state, recognize it, that's all that ultimately matters.

BLAZINGGIANTS, I agree with you in some ways and not in others. With regards to a church or religion in the US being able to have their own discriminatory beliefs, I'm with you, that's their right.

Unless it infringes upon those who are not part of the religion. Many many churches try and get laws passed to make their personal religious views part of law. That's BS. They can choose who to marry and who not to, but they should have no say in who the state determines can or can't marry.

Personally I'm fine with religion X being able to not let blacks in or make women walk behind the men. I think that stuff is terrible and disgraceful, but if it's completely and only part of their church, that's fine. But the second the greater society is involved, those rules can't exist. There have been way way too many laws passed that have been couched in other things, but are just the religious world inserting itself into our secular government.

Agreed. But that was part of my point, even if it wasn't explicit. They can have their laws, within the confines of their religion, and as you say, as long as it doesn't infringe on others. Separation of church and state. Keep your confining rules/laws/beliefs in the church. I often think churches want to pass discriminatory laws so they don't have to be the bad guy, or police their followers. That, and they somehow think if everyone has the exact same set of rules as exists in their church, it will somehow be some utopia and everyone will adapt.

Gay people aren't persecuting churches! No one is forcing churches to do anything. Except accept that their religious teachings are not secular law.

It bugs me the way you phrase this as it seems you're claiming Christianity is against Gay Marriage....you do realize that a huge percentage of Christians support it right? I've several pastors in my extended family who'd take issue with those who claim that it's against Biblical teachings.

I just think it's interesting, you and I basically agree. However, I think it's interesting that you and I feel very similar about the "other" sides actions. Let me explain. In your opening salvo you said "I will say I'm tired of people shitting on religion like the religions need to be fixed." and then went on to explain yourself. Whereas I am tired of religion shitting on the secular and trying to push their belief system on us.

We both say we believe in separation of church and state, but place our vitriol at opposite ends of the equation. I'm not saying who is right (hint:it's me) but I just thought that our agreement on content with differing blame placement was interesting.

Like if two people both bend over to tie their shoes at the same time only to bump heads. Both feel injured, both say that two people shouldn't bend over to tie shoes in close quarters, but if you ask both people who's fault it is, they both point to the other guy and and say "his fault".

Marriage is between a penis and a vagina. Big Quibble. How two vagina's, or two penises, can equal one penis and one vagina is beyond me.

Really, Hail Blazers? So when you get married, your wedding invitations will say Vagina, daughter of so and so, to marry Penis, son of so and so? The minister will say we are gathered here today to join this Vagina and this Penis in holy matrimony? At the end will he pronounce you Penis and Vagina? Say "kiss the Vagina"?

BTW, "like" and "equal" are not the same thing at all. You are mixing them up. A penis and vagina is not "like" two penises or two vaginas. So what? Our Constitution does not say we are all alike, just that we are all equal under the law.

And there is no apostrophe in "two vagina's". The plural of vagina is vaginas. No apostrophe needed.

I'm pretty sure he put the apostrophe there to signify the clitoris.

I am pretty sure body parts are not the ones making the decisions to wed, they just come along for the ride.
