Why would he? He made 8 million dollars last season. And, he was a starter. Sure, he was in line for a paycut. But, damn! And, Utah could easily re-sign him to whatever they could work out. $4 or $5 million for 1 year, right? That is why he wasn't talked about. It didn't make sense since we didn't have a roster spot, and didn't (seemingly) have enough money to lure him away from Utah. Guess Utah is in 100% tank mode.
Lost: Hickson, Babbitt, Pavlovic, Nolan , Elliot, Jeffries Gained: Lopez, Mo, Wright, McCollum, TRob, Watson Freakin night and day in terms of depth and talent. Still think we could use a big behind Lopez in place of a guard.
Jul 27, 2013, 5:00 PM EDT When talking at Summer League, people around the associated seemed surprised that Mo Williams was still on the board as a free agent. Williams isn’t elite but he is a solid veteran — 12.9 points and 6.2 assists a game last season, plus he shot 38 percent from three. The most likely landing spot for him appears to be back with the Jazz, kind of a mentor to rookie Troy Burke. But there are other teams interested, including Miami according to a note from the Miami Herald: The Heat is among teams that has shown some interest in free agent point guard Mo Williams. And Williams is said to have interest in Miami if he doesn’t get an offer higher than the minimum. It’s all about the Benjamins. Williams deserves more than the minimum but at this point may not get it (or not much more). If the money is close to equal, why wouldn’t he head to Miami where he would get minutes (in tandem with Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole) at the one? Just something to watch. Whoever lands Williams at the minimum or near it will have a good value for the price.
So stat wise, they're about the same in terms of PG ability. I think Dame is the better decision maker out of the P&R. They'll be interchangeable when they play with each other. Would get destroyed on D though.
Re: Mo Williams! Way to grab a proven asset that can help thevte for cheap. I never even imagined we would have a shot at williams for that cheap. This new CBA is changing the contracts FA are getting, under the last CBW williams would probably have gotten the full MLE from a contender. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
