1995 to 2012 (18 years) 13 division titles. 5 world series. 15 90 win seasons & the envy of most teams in baseball. And now for the first time since 1992 (22 seasons) there's a very likely chance that we'll be finishing under 500. The sad thing to all of this is that going forward as long as the "I don't give a rats ass" mentality of the Stienbrenner boys are running the show along with an inept GM, this team will be stuck in mediocrity for several years to come.
Scene we'd like to see; During a Yankee Stadium office meeting the Steinbrenners and Cashman are pulled from their conference room by a mob of angry Yankee Fans and lynched at the main entrance.
Some of us saw the iceberg in front from several miles away (i.e. years ago), but instead of taking a different course (or in some cases just turning the wheel a little), the Boss' sperm germs, Levine, and Cashman have this team plowing right into it.
Well there's a 5 game difference but the Yankees do seem determined to finish in the basement so I wouldn't be surprised by anything.
The way I look at it, if we can start the process of riding ourselves of Arod, and all the other contracts that are coming off, it would provide a great trigger to start the enxt 20 year run. If that's the case, we will take our medicine and pray.
You guys are awesome... ;-) What if.... ARod gets healthy and hits .280 with 35 homers and 100 RBIs for the next three seasons? I mean, it's not a 0% chance, if he's not banned for life. Isn't hat the win? It sucks that George isn't around anymore to care for the team.
So true Denny. There's just no way that George would have let the trade dead line go by without making an impact.
There is no way the Boss would have stood for this low quality of play. The Boss would have blasted this team for being swept by one of the worst teams in baseball and challenged.
Yankee austerity plans are in motion and we, the fans, are just amazed by how poorly this team's system has deteriorated. The Steinbrenner boys are inept owners listening to absolute jerks like Levine whose baseball knowlege is pathetic and totally misdirected. There is no urgency in this once proud baseball organization. Hard to support a team that continues to sign has beens. It says a whole lot how poorly this organization has drafted through the last 22 years. The Yankees have become one of the worst organizations in baseball. One way to let this organization know we are not happy is to stay away from the stadium. An empty stadium is one message they do not want to see. But I doubt they would respond to an empty stadium. Their indifference is appalling.
One can only imagine the nonsense that would have been posted in the early 90's...the late 80's or the late 70's. Spoiled fan base we are the dimished mind of a soon to be 40 year old
