I have been to logger bars, and yes, a very different value system. But times are changing, everywhere. I admit I talk diferently in here than I would in a rural tavern, but that doesn't mean they lack the compassion or understanding to deal with gays in their neck of the woods. They also have sisters or nephews, uncles or friends who are gay. They might not approve, but most, if given the chance, are man enough and modern enough to let the gay couple be in peace.

That's all I was saying. And quite frankly, being a stand up person is a highly valued by them too, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if someone did start pushing them around, unlike oldguy, some of those red necks might just step up and protect the innocent.

Just trying not to over generalize. I would rather assume people are good, and let them prove me wrong.

I said I would try to help if they were just holding hands and got hassled. But I'm not going to get hurt for some offensive jerks.

Their behavior offended me. It offended a lot of others there too. That behavior being offensive is independent of being gay. If some guy was rubbing up his girlfriend in the middle of a bar, I would be offended then too. If he got beat up for doing that to his date/gf/wife/hooker, I wouldn't lift a finger then, either. I would leave that to badasses like you and Denny.

If me being offended by them offends you, feel free to piss and moan until the cows come home. That's your right. I trust you'll defend my right to not give a rip.

Not surprising the bible thumpers say the men were "asking for it".

Someone starts a thread about gay men being attacked, before you can take a shit someone else starts talking about other people who were "asking" to get beat up. Usually you have to be a woman to hear that.

Not surprising that the resident homojihadist would continue her incessant drum beat to condemn anyone that doesn't agree with her on gay issues.

Given that you consider the Folsom Street Fair just a bunch of normal people walking around in leather shows that, as far as you're concerned, there is nothing a gay person can do to be offensive.

Good grief. Where did Folsom Street come into the discussion? And jihad?

I guess insults are easier than, you know, reading what someone actually said.

ya know...if I walk into a local biker bar, and start thumpin the bible, the next thing that is going to get thumped is me...nothing to do with right or wrong, legal rights or any of that stuff...it would be a damn stupid idea for me to do so

also I know from experience that there are bars in frisco that do not welcome straight people...if I were to waltz in with some strumpet and embarase myself in front of everybody..we both know I would wear out any welcome very fast..

You mean like calling people 'bible thumpers'? Bite me.

Your stated view that the Folsom Street Fair was just a festival for normal people walking around in leather speaks to the fact that you don't believe anything gay people do is offensive. The fact that you believe it's ok for kids to attend that festive further supports that you consider that shit normal and non-offensive.

Easy guys. This whole thread started with an article about two gay guys holding hands walking down a street and get beat up . . . including being hit with brass knuckles and getting seven stitches. That crime was all about HATE pure and simple (no one asking for it)

Of course someone who is gay would be emotionally upset about that and somehow this gets spun into gay guys kissing in a bar asking for it. Why? Unless there is some bizarro argument that this couple was asking for it, why create some weird situation and ask in that case are they asking for it?

Keeping our eye on the ball this article is about hate and that there is a lot of extreme hate on gay people to the point they are being beat up over it in the streets of NY. This country still has a long fucking way to go.

Damn...it's like talking to a wall in here when it comes to gay people. If the two guys at the bar were just holding hands, I said I would have tried to help if they were hassled. Let me reiterate....I DIDN'T FIND THAT OFFENSIVE, EVEN IF I THINK IT WAS DUMB.

I didn't say the people in NY were asking for ANYTHING. I didn't say I thought that the guys in the bar deserved to be beat up. I said that I think it was stupid and dangerous for them to do that, based on what I've seen happen in these types of bars in the past.

If the couple had been just kissing, I would have found that annoying, but unremarkable. THEY WERE NOT JUST HOLDING HANDS AND THEY WERE NOT JUST KISSING. THEY WERE SITTING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BAR, MAKING OUT AND FEELING EACH OTHER UP. I find that offensive, as did a lot of others in the bar, based on the rolling eyes and shaking heads I saw. I find that a stupid way to behave in a blue collar bar.

I didn't do shit to the clueless twosome.

If me being offended by that pisses people off, so sue me.

Question... Would you be equally upset if a man and woman walked in the same bar, making out, feeling each other up and holding hands?

I would, because I think that's disrespectful to the children and other families there.

I guess you didn't read much of the thread Mags. I've stated clearly that I find it just as offensive if a man and a women did that. I think that the man and women would get a ration of shit for doing, too.

But, I don't think it's as likely that they would get beat up for doing the same thing. (Although it's entirely possible, if they started getting confrontational about being told to get a room and the like.) I'm not saying that's right, I'm saying that's the way it is.

Dude I was agreeing with you. Explaining that this wasn't just guy on guy that was offensive.

LOL! I hadn't really thought about that. You might a right that the guys at the bar would have been much more receptive to that, at least if the women were attractive. It doesn't seem likely that the women would get beat up over it.

There might be a business opportunity for you here, crandc.
