If they're making a big think about Ichiro joining Cobb & Rose as the only players to reach that plateau then that means they're counting his hits in Japan right? But if they're counting his hits in Japan then he can't very well be considered a rookie when he started playing here. So how could he win the rookie of the year? And if he is considered a rookie then he only has 2,723 hits not 4000. Don't get me wrong, any way its a helleva accomplishment but was he a rookie when he won the ROY or was he a veteran with over 1,200 hits?
Extremely, but it's still valid points. BTW: How & where do you get the icons? And remember, even after all these years you're STILL dealing with a computer illiterate.
I'm interested too and also suck on the computer. Too bad a bunch couldn't be added somehow on site for the posting public to use. LOL
...lol...before you "post a quick reply", click "go advanced"...there are a few smilies but if you click "more" you'll find a hundred or so more. ...lemme know if I can help.
...yup, but if you look below that group of smilies on the right hand side of the post box, you'll see a red text that says "[more]"...click that and you'll about 200 more to choose from.
...thanx, I'm actually a cupcake and a pushover. The dickhead persona I portray on here is just an act so that people won't try take advantage of me.
I need to add this to the OP, If people are going to count Ichiro's time with the Japan team to his hit total then you need to add the hit totals to players who played for the negro league. Robinson, Aaron, Doby etc.
Let me try and simplify it... he is undoubtedly a great player- he may or may not have achieved that number if he played his entire career in MLB...... He doesn't have 4000 hits in MLB.... IT IS WHAT IT IS. Any questions? comments? Thank you very much.
...rick, sorry, but Aaron had only 41 hits in the negro leagues, add them if you want but it still doesn't get him to 4000 hits not even close....Doby only had 1515 hits in his MLB career which began when he was only 23 years old and after he had served in the military during WWII, so I doubt he even came close to 2000 hits if you added them all together... Jackie Robinson's negro league career consisted of only 47 game and only 63 hits which when added to his 1518 hits in the majors only gives him a grand total of 1581 hits...sorry, but again that doesn't even get him to 2000 hits, much less 4000.
They keep saying that Ichiro has joined Pete Rose & Ty Cobb as the only players with 4000 hits. I'm adding that if you include the hits he got in the negro league I believe Hank Aaron also has 4000 hits.
...no, again, sorry, but Aaron does not have 4000 hits...he only had 41 negro league hits...(read my above post). ...and NO ONE has said that Ichiro has "4000 MLB hits". (I was responding to blg)
...^^^ yeah, I have one. Who the hell said he has "4000 hits in MLB"? ________________________________ lmao.....I hear ya, very good... lol I was referring to "them" putting him along side Rose and Cobb... (4000 hit club) You're not going to ask me who exactly is "them" are you? lol
no matter where he got them, it is still an accomplishment...they celebrated Crash Davis for most career minor league home runs didnt they LMFAO
