    Score!

I think he's going to regret his choice, unless he's surely able to catch on with a team overseas anyway.

It's becoming pretty clear that the Bulls are in no hurry to fill that 13th roster spot. Likely they'll invite one or two more bigs (in addition to Pittman) to camp. My guess is that they'll fill that 13th spot with a non-guaranteed contract.

    It's not the 13th spot that's our issue. It's the backup C.

How would we do if Noah has to sit 20 games with HS sore foot?

Rose cannot do it by himself.

I agree Transplant. Thomas may make the team after all.

I highly doubt that Pittman will.

They had an option on him for this coming season, but chose not to exercise it, making Thomas a free agent. Thomas could conceivably sign a new deal with the Bulls (likely non-guaranteed).

As for Noah's backup, I'll be surprised if the 13th roster spot isn't filled by a big.

Me, too, but do you want to see Malcolm Thomas playing C for us for 20 games if Noah can't play those games?

No, and we won't. Regardless of who the 13th man is, if Noah goes down, the vast majority of those minutes will go to Gibson, Boozer and Mohammed who all play center better than the 13th man will.

Gibson and Boozer are terrible at the center position. Though Boozer played a lot of C last season, it wasn't every game for 24 minutes.

    Nazr?

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I'm truly shocked by this response.

Other than Hollinger himself, you may be the foremost proponent of the PER stat. You are also fond of viewing player performance based on the starter/bench statistical split (see Marco Belinelli).

Truth is that Nazr, like Belinelli, was much better as a starter than as a reserve last season. I can't calculate actual PER, but using a PER estimator called "linear weights PER," Nazr's "lwtsPER" in the 12 games he started last season was 14.4 which is fairly respectable.

The guy is 35 years old and hasn't played 20 minutes per game in the last 5 years.

He's done well because opponents are shocked to see him get in the game at all.

EDIT: I thought he was a meh player when he was in his prime.

Thomas wont play center, Gibson and boozer would in small stretches. Nazr will be ok.

If we sign someone other than a big man at #13 I too would be surprised. We have to have some depth to rest Nazr, and Noah. The player wont play a lot of minutes, but cutting back 3 to 5 minutes a night on some nights would allow Noah to be healthier for the playoffs.

Kind of as silly as saying that Nate Robinson did well last season because opponents couldn't get over how short he is.

    Seriously?

Kareem looks like he's in good shape. Trot him out there. Sending Nazr out there is THAT silly.
