Any of you beach people need to help me out. Driving from Cannon Beach to Eugene Friday for work. Google Maps says the fastest way is to drive back to Portland then south. That seems crazy as shit to me. Is driving to Lincoln City then over or down to Florence and over that much slower? Help!

I used to love the drive from Eugene to Florence. That curvy little highway is so much fun. Even if it is a little longer time wise I would crank the tunes and go that way.

I think that's what I'll end up doing, just damn.........it says if I go thru Florence, it's 4 hrs and 57 min!!!!! 5 hours to Eugene!!!! That would be a nice way to start out a work day though.

It does add a couple of hours to your trip, lol. You could drive to Lincoln City, head to Salem and then take 99 or I-5 to Eugene.

Or I could go to San Francisco and then back up north.

Back to Portland and then to Eugene is fastest, assuming you're not traveling through the metro area during rush hour.

But the drive down the coast and cutting to Eugene is a beautiful drive. Down to Lincoln City to Salem to Eugene is probably a good balance between time and scenery.

Nice. I'll be chilling at the coast, watching from the cabin, or maybe I'll force myself to one of the dive bars down the street. That's always fun, actually.
